SPECIALS:
Specials run on a 4 day cycle. Mrs. Crowell’s class is as follows.
Day 1: Physical Education
Day 2: Music
Day 3: Library or Computer
Day 4: Art
Ms. Stobert’s class is as follows:
Day 1: Music

*Library Days are Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday
Computer Days are Monday and Friday.
READING:
The students are completing the reading of stories in our first theme called “Finding A Way.” These stories are focusing on challenges that characters have within the story. As a reminder, your child will have a study guide with each
skill needed for their story in their yellow Homework folder.Please communicate with your child to know what is going on in class.
BOOK-IT!
The Book-it! Program starts this month and lasts until March. Your child will need to read 20 minutes each night in order to receive their Pizza Hut coupon at the end of each month. You DO NOT need to sign it each night; however at the end of the month you will need to sign off before your child turns it in.
SPELLING:
The students will receive spelling homework throughout the week. There will be a spelling homework calendar on the back of their Reading Study Guide. Please use the planner/agenda to be sure your child is completing the correct assignment. Students must follow and complete each activity to receive full credit. If your child forgets to do their homework, it will be accepted late, as long as it is completed.
MATH:
The students are studying Unit 2 – Estimation and Calculation. Please review the Family Letter that comes home with your child. Also it is very important to work on mastering basic math facts, especially multiplication.

SCIENCE:
The students are learning about the first unit of science called Motion in Design. Activities for Science take place in the classroom. The students will be making cars and doing experiment tests.
Upcoming Events:
- There will be no school on Friday, October 10th and Monday, October 13th.
- Thursday, October 30 is the end of the 1st 9 weeks.
- Our Halloween parade and party will be on Thursday, October 30th. There will be an information sheet that sent home regarding costumes, parade, and party.
- There is no school on Friday, October 31st.
Extra Information:
As always, we love donations of tissues for our classroom and Clorox/ Lysol wipes. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far. We greatly appreciate your generosity!
REPORT CARDS:
The first nine weeks report cards will be issued on Friday, November 7th. Conferences are held the following Tuesday on November 11th. There is no school for students on that day. More information will be sent home regarding conferences.
