Read Hebrews 2:5-9

1) What does the author say about angels in verse 5? Look again at Hebrews 2:2 and Hebrews 1:4-7 and explain whythe author might have gone out of his way to remind readers of the time about the fact stated in verse 5.

2) The original audience of this letter was probably familiar with Psalm 8. Read Psalm 8 and explain what it communicate to the readers and how quoting that Psalm may have affected the readers’ reactionsHebrews 2:5-9.

Pray that as a human being, your view of salvation is always treasured and that being grafted into God’s family is never taken lightly.

Day 2 / THEN

Read Hebrews 2:10-18

3)In the Greco-Roman world, associating suffering with the godsor the divine perfection of anything through suffering would be unheard of. How would this thought of the time align with Hebrews 2:10? In today’s passage, what are the many results of Jesus’ suffering given by the author of Hebrews?

4)What did the original audience hear in this passage that would makethem see Christas a temple high priest? In contrast, how is He portrayed differently than atemple high priest of the day and why?

Pray to understand the Nature of Christ while He was on Earth and in Heaven.

Day 3 / ALWAYS

Read Hebrews 2:5-18

5) Describe the work that Christ did for all of mankind. Explain the difficulties of helping others understand Jesus being the only one who could endure this suffering for sin.

6)What characteristic of Christ isfound in verses 8-10?How can it be difficult to see that active through human history?

Pray to thank God for the work Christ did and the privilege to be in God’s family.

Read Hebrews 2:5-9

9) How will you prepare better to proclaim Jesus, noting how He tasted death for you?

10)Describe ways you will daily become more mindful of God’s character, given that He cares so much for you and has done so much for you.

In gratitude for who He is and what He has done for you, pray for God to lead you to the right opportunities for using the gifts He has given to you.

Day 6 / NOW

Read Hebrews 2:10-18

11)Explain how you might use today’s verses to encourage a younger Christian brother toward greater sanctification.

12)Explain how verses 17 and 18 might be of help to you when tempted to disobey or ignore God’s word?

Pray to have the Holy Spirit intervene more, especially when you are being tempted.
