Minutes of the Club Representatives Meeting held at the upstairs office of the Midlands Squash Union, in the Collegians Squash Complex on Monday the 15th February 2016 at 6pm.

1.  PRESENT

Mrs Janine Talbot in the Chair, with Andrew Barnes leading the meeting and 24 representatives representing their prospective clubs as per the attached attendance register. Janine welcomed everyone to the reps meeting.

3.  CALENDAR DATES

These were distributed. Winter league would commence on the 18th April 2017 and end on the 28th September 2017. Prize-giving would be held on Friday the 13th October 2017 at Victoria Country Club. Ladder Tournament dates have been changed to the 6,8,13 & 15th March 2017 and approved. All the other dates were accepted.

4.  SELECTION OF LEAGUE TEAMS

4.1.  Andrew Barnes went through the winter league entries and applied the guidelines for Winter League Entries. All the leagues for 2017 with the exception of the Mens 1st league, Ladies B and Ladies C have 9 teams each.

4.2.  11 teams have entered into the Men’s 1st league. There is no promotion or relegation between the 1st and 2nd league however the MSU can make a decision to promote or relegate a team. Protea who have lost the 1st league 5 years in a row, was asked to take relegation into the 2nd league and give the spot to Mooi River. Protea would like to keep their spot in the 1st league and have agreed to a playoff when asked if they are happy with that. MSU will make a decision by Friday, as to whether Protea gets relegated or the 2 clubs should have a playoff. Epworth and Greytown are looking to put in a team in the 8th league and will notify Rennisha by Friday, 17th February 2017. Ladies C league has 6 teams and the league fee of R1350.00/team has been discounted to R850 for the Ladies C league only.

5.  GENERAL.

5.1.  Due to the public holiday on the 16 June, 15th June fixtures will be played in the 2nd half. This leaves all the Thursday fixtures in the 1st half with 8 fixtures and the 2nd half with 10 fixtures.

5.2.  All players including reserves must be registered on Sport80 before they can play in any match.

Clubs can do a bulk registration with SSA or players can register individually on the Sport80 website.

5.3.  Results must be updated on SportyHQ within 7 days. Failing to do so will result in both teams receiving zero

5.4.  Scorecards must be completed in full, signed by both captains and sent to Rennisha if Captains are having problems updating results. These can be e-mailed/posted/whatsApp’d/faxed to her. In case of a query, scorecards will be requested to be submitted to the MSU Office.

5.5.  Rennisha Larkin thanked the advertisers for their support in 2016. Spots are still available should anyone wish to advertise in the Handbooks. Handbook adverts would cost R475-00 for a half page and R725-00 for a full page and a line would cost R200-00. Anyone wanting to advertise should contact Rennisha by Friday, 24th February.

5.6.  Janine thanked Andrew and Rob and all those that contributed to the league rule changes and ironing out all the Grey areas. Rules have been accepted and will be implemented for the 2017 Winter League.

5.7.  A ladder must be submitted together with your team names in strict ladder order together with the Sport80 registration numbers. Reserves have to play in their ladder order. All changes to the ladder must be submitted to MSU.
