Technology Coordinator
for Bristol Community College Fall River Adult Basic Education Program
Statement of Duties: The Technology Coordinatorensures and supports the integration of digital literacy into the Adult Basic Education Program’s academic and career-readiness curriculum. Instructs and assists students and staff in the use of hardware and software products.
Responsibilities:
- Provides technology support and assistance to staff and students in the day and evening programs
- Prepares lessons and instructs students individually and in groups in use of instructional, testing and application software
- Works with BCC IT staff to install and maintain ABE learning and testing products
- Oversees implementation of program software products throughout the program
- Keeps abreast of new requirements and works with appropriate staff to develop strategies for technology integration
- Maintains student computer recordsand prepares and distributes yearly lab schedules
- Troubleshoots technology problems in conjunction with BCC tech support personal as needed
- Attends and participates in staff /program meetings
- Understands usage patterns and makes recommendations for hardware and software purchases
- Attends a minimum of 12 hours of professional development activities per year
- Other duties as assigned by the ABE Director
Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree required, Bachelor’s Degree in instructional technology preferred
- Minimum five years computer experience
- Knowledge of PC computers, LAN networks
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including MS Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint and Outlook and the Internet
- Proficient with basic hardware, software and printer maintenance
- Ability and willingness to learn new technologies and products
- Demonstrated ability to instruct others in use of digital tools and software
- Ability to work with diverse individuals with varying educational skill levels
- A strong interest in supporting students’ acquisition of digital literacy skills
- Willingness to take on occasional special projects as related to digital integration
- Strong organizational and communication skills
Supervision Received:Works under the supervision of the Fall River ABE Director
Position Status:This is a year-round, non-unit, part-timenon-benefitted, grant-funded position. Subject to funding availability. Rate is $26.65 hourly. Work schedule is Mondays and Wednesdays, 9:00am-1:15pm and Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:45pm-9:00pm. Total weekly hours are 17 with additional paid hours for pre/post semester planning, professional and program development activities. The anticipated start date is September 8, 2015.
