(1973-80) Abstracting of research papers in biochemistry, pharmacology, molecular biology, etc, for Chemical Abstracts (US), as well as indexing, editing, and proof reading of abstracts.

(1980-88) Development of and input to new products, including: The Agrochemicals Handbook, The European Directory of Agrochemical Products, and the Chemical Business Newsbase (CBNB). This work involved a great deal of translation from Swedish, Danish, and Dutch sources and ongoing translation/abstracting of articles for input to CBNB.

into the English ‘Nest Boxes for the Birds of Britain and Europe’.

1991-2000 Practising acupuncturist and Member of the British Acupuncture Council. I still practise as an acupuncturist but at a reduced level because of increased work commitments in translation and abstracting.

1988-2000+ Freelance translation/abstracting for the Royal Society of Chemistry’s (RSC) Chemical Business News Base and Chemical Hazards in Industry Bulletin, from Swedish, Danish, Dutch, and Norwegian (the RSC relocated from Nottingham to Cambridge in 1989). The subject matter dealt with covers all areas of the life science and chemical industries, such as the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical technology, genetic engineering, food, agrochemicals, coatings, rubber and plastics, and speciality chemical sectors, and includes company news, research and development, technology, environmental issues, health and safety, financial results, legislation, litigation, etc.

2001+ Continuing freelance translation/abstracting for the Chemical Business News Base which in 2001was sold to Elsevier Science and is now part of the electronic information service ChemVillage of Engineering Information Inc, New York.

I translate and abstract articles from the following sources:

- the newspapers Dagens Industri, Dagens Naeringsliv, Het Financieele Dagblad, and their associated websites

- the websites Borsen, chemiezine, hegnar, NetPosten and Chemisch2Weekblad

- the journals Chemie Magazine, and Kemivarlden Biotech
