NSG 347 Leadership and Management Practicum

Credits : 3 (2 cr. Theory, 1 cr. Clinical)

Prerequisites: Nursing 290

Description:

This course prepares the RN to BS or RN to MS student for professional role development in emerging health care delivery systems. The student synthesizes knowledge from previous nursing and supportive courses to manage care in an area of clinical practice consistent with career goals.

Course Outcomes:

At the completion of this course the student will demonstrate competence in:

1.Synthesizing concepts from the humanities, physical and social sciences, nursing and applied research as a basis for professional practice.

2.Using case management as a nursing care modality to prevent illness and to promote, maintain, and /or restore health within clients.

3.Collaborating as a member of the health care team with consumers and providers of health care.

4.Utilizing research findings in the practice of professional nursing

5.Demonstrating leadership and management roles in the emerging health care delivery system.

6.Integrating professional role of the nurse in the delivery of quality care.

4.0 = 92 - 100%

3.5 = 88 – 91%

3.0 = 84 – 87%

2.5 = 79 – 83%

2.0 = 75 – 78%

1.5 = 70 – 74

1.0 = 65 – 69%

0.0 = less than 65%

Clinical Requirements:

Students are required to complete 45 hours of clinical experience. The clinical practice experience will incorporate course content and facilitate the transition of the student’s role behaviors to the baccalaureate level. Each student will develop a plan for the completion of clinical hours in conjunction with the course instructor. Clinical hours may include both direct and indirect care activities. The selected clinical site(s) will be utilized by the student for completion of course assignments.
