CAD/CAM Engineer/Technician – Worked with customers to convert customer files into Gerber files that were then used to create (in-house) film (Mylar) masks or Chrome on Glass masks for use in the Photolithography industry. Masks were typically shipped same or next day.

Dorman/McGinnis GMAC Real Estate, Colorado Springs 2007-2010

Property Manager – Managed 90+ residential properties in El Paso County. Coordinated with owners and tenants for management/leasing of single family homes, condominiums, townhouses, duplexes and four-plexes, resolved problems and issues as they occurred. Worked with contractors to repair these properties in a timely and financially sound manner.

Ingersoll-Rand (Schlage), Colorado Springs 2005- 2005

Value Engineer (Contract) – Developed and implemented cost reduction projects for Schlage and Falcon Brand lock products. Employed Engineering guidelines (DFMEA and PFMEA) to address issues before prototyping. Redesigned existing products, tested for specification compliance, worked with vendors and manufacturing sites.

Quantum Corporation, Colorado Springs 2005-2005

Test Engineer IV (Contract) – Tested Firmware for Tape Library Product. Identified, documented, and reported problems to firmware developers for resolution prior to first customer shipment.

Ingersoll-Rand (Schlage), Colorado Springs (Security, CO) 2004-2005

Manufacturing Facilitator (Contract) – Supervised 40+ manufacturing associates, building cylinders for locks. Worked with Design Engineering, Materials, Process Engineering, Quality Assurance and other teams to maximize production, while reducing cost (Lean and Flexible Manufacturing).

Eurologic Systems, Inc., Colorado Springs 2002-2003

Project Engineer (Contract) – Managed qualification testing of new family of disk enclosures. Worked with design teams to co-ordinate schedules and to share test equipment and products. RESULT: qualification time and cost cut 40-50 percent compared to previous product families.

Compaq Computer Corporation/Digital Equipment Corporation, Colorado Springs (inclusive 1979-2001)

Program Manager I/II (1999-2001) – Managed various programs including the MVS Business Unit ISO 9001 effort. Persuaded, trained, and coordinated the engineering teams work to prepare for (and pass) the initial audit as well as follow-up audits. RESULT: MVS Business Unit received ISO 9001 certification, which maintained Compaq’s competitiveness ahead of the competition.


Hardware Principal Engineer/Engineering Manager (1991-1999) – responsible engineer/engineering manager for StorageWorks product line (less array controllers) of various storage devices, storage enclosures, and cabinets. In addition, supported the pre-StorageWorks products to continue the revenue stream as StorageWorks was being developed.

Introduced new storage building blocks (SBB’s) worldwide. Worked with manufacturing plants in the U.S., Scotland, and Singapore to establish local SBB production capabilities. Developed family of Engineering drawings to be used in all these countries. RESULT: Products were produced in three major geographic areas with no variations.

Analyzed and solved field and manufacturing problems associated with StorageWorks product set. Served initially as the support engineer, later led the engineering team performing this support work. Briefed senior management on status of all open field issues, initiated training and led communications to establish solutions and implement other changes to pre-empt later issues. RESULT: Significantly reduced product problems at manufacturing sites and field locations, resulting in greatly enhanced relationships with field, manufacturing, and senior staff personnel.

Senior Engineer, Design Engineering (1986-1991) – Worked detailed design of plastic, sheet metal, and cast parts for various Storage Products. Used 3D CAD to develop layouts and detail parts. Worked with vendors to match product requirement with vendor capabilities.

Manufacturing Engineer/Senior Manufacturing Engineer (1979-1986) - Introduced new disk drive into production and then supported end product. Wrote assembly processes, created production lines, bought equipment, trained personnel, and worked with engineering to improve manufacturability. Developed Engineering Change Orders (ECO’s) to address problems and reduce cost. RESULT: Product shipped on schedule, was 1st of successful family of products.

Introduced new controller family into production. Worked with Design Engineering to ensure ease of production – both at vendor and on production line. Wrote assembly processes, 1st for prototypes, then for production. Worked with volume manufacturing to integrate new product seamlessly into existing production line. Worked with engineering to ship Alpha and Beta units to field test sites. Later upgraded U.S. prototypes to production level (for field service support) and wrote detailed upgrade instructions for European and Asia Pacific units. RESULT: Product had minimal ECO’s, went into volume production smoothly, and all prototypes were upgraded worldwide.
