School Uniform and Clothing Policy

Date of issue:June 2017

Review date:June 2020

Introduction

It is our school policy that all children wear school uniform when attending school, from Nursery to Year 6. The Governors very much appreciate parents’ support in ensuring that children attend school smartly dressed and in the correct uniform. We regard this as a very important factor in the success of our school.

Aims and Objectives

Our policy on School uniform is based on the notion that school uniform;

  • Promotes a sense of pride in school
  • Promotes a sense of community and belonging towards the school
  • Is practical, smart and affordable
  • Identifies the children with Blackheath Primary School
  • Prevents children from coming to school in fashion clothes that could be distracting
  • Makes children feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance
  • Is designed with Health and Safety in mind

Extreme haircuts

The school does not permit children to have ‘extreme’ haircuts that could serve as a distraction to other children.

Cap

Caps can be purchased with the school logo from the online uniform catalogue. If children do not have a cap with the school logo on they must wear a plain royal blue cap whilst in school. No fashion caps are allowed to be worn in school.

Please note, if your child is NOT in school uniform then parents should write to school with a reason. Children will be loaned a school jumper for when they are NOT in uniform. This will be collected in and washed at the end of the day. Pupils should also wear sensible black shoes, trainers are NOT allowed. If children come to school in non school shoes, they will be asked to wear black pumps.
