WHALES
With March and April months come the whales visit in Carriacou waters. Years after years, the whale are passing by Carriacou on their way to the North. Divers can encounter or at least ear them near Sisters Rocks.
EARTH DAY
April 22nd Lumbadive celebrated Earth Day. Forty-five (45) divers, snorkelers and pedestrians participated to the event.
Thank you to all the local businesses that help by offering water, trash bags, foods, gifts, etc, for the participants.
Continue your everyday cleaning effort to keep all the wonderful underwater scenery and save the aquatic life and beaches.
TURTLE RELEASE
April 14th, Lumbadive help KIDO Sea Turtle Rescue Project to release the 300th turtle. Mr Richard Laflamme one of Lumbadive owners, adopted it to underline the birth of his grand child and name the turtle by his name; Esteban.
So if you’re diving in the Caribbean seas and see a turtle with tags # WH 7939, wave your hand to Esteban.
You can also adopt a turtle.

Diving when there is current it is fun, but it could be also dangerous!
Here are some warnings which you do not have to forget during your next dives with current:
Regular dive: If you do not wish to do a drift dive, always begin against the current. This way the most demanding part will be made at the beginning of your dive and you can finish with the easy portion of the dive by letting you drift back to your entrance point. If you respect the law of ½ air tank, you should return to your point of departure with enough air.
Drift dive: In a drift dive, if you have to stop to see some specimens face the current and fin. This will allow you to stay in position or to move slowly.
Drift dive in group: Knowing that the current may differs with the depth, if all the members of the group make their dive together, you have to stay together for the preparation, the entrance to the water and the descent.
Security remarks: During a drift dive, if you lose your buddy, you shouldn’t wait more than 30 seconds to ascent at the surface. This way you will not be too far away of your partner and you can more easily resume your dive.
Have a balloon, SMB or a dive flag: It is strongly recommended to have a buoy on the surface to indicate in where you are, as you will cover on a big distance.
We recommend that you carry a buoy by 2 divers. So if the group dismembers, no divers will not be without resources to be seen at the surface.
Current stronger than planned: Try to stay mostly at the bottom or closer of the wall if there is one.
Reminder: Do not fight against the current. If current becomes too difficult for you and you’re not comfortable, ABORT the dive.

MAROON & STRING BAND
April 29th was held the Maroon & String Band Music festival. Many orchestras were part of the shows. The festival last the week end long.
HALLUJIHA BAR
May 31st was the last day Lambi Queen was operating the floating Bar owned by Lady D.
A big party was held that last day!
EVENTS COMING UP
In August will be the Annual Carriacou Regatta Festival and the 11th annual set of activities to raise money for the Carriacou Children's Education Fund. Hope will see you there!

TORTUES
Encore une fois, Lumbadive a aidé la Fondation KIDO à remettre à l’eau 4 tortues.
Coincées dans les filets des pêcheurs et ramenées sur la terre, les tortues étaient âgées, selon Dario un des fondateurs de KIDO, de 3 ans, 60 ans (une femelle) et d’environ 70 ans (deux males).
L’année dernière une vingtaine de tortues ont été ainsi relâchées à la mer.
299 tortues ont été sauvées depuis 4 ans.
Lors de votre séjour chez Lumbadive, vous pourriez avoir la chance d’y participer.
JOUR DE LA TERRE
Le 22 avril prochain Lumbadive soulignera le Jour de la Terre.
Chaque plongeur recevra un sac en mèche afin de ramasser les détritus qu’il verra durant son expédition sous l’eau.
Rappelons que l’an dernier Lumbadive avait organisé un nettoyage de la rive de Tyrrel Bay.
L’exercice fut tellement apprécié que les gens continuent à amasser les rebus qu’ils voient sur la berge.
Pourquoi attendre un jour spécial pour ce faire?
Chacun faisant sa part quotidiennement, tous bénéficieront de panoramas sous-marins plus prestigieux et sauveront certainement la vie aquatique.

Nettoyage - suite:
Ayant été entreposé longtemps, vous notez que certaines pièces de votre équipement nécessitent un gros nettoyage avant d’être utilisé pour votre prochaine plongée.
Ne soyez pas découragé, voici quelques trucs pour vous :
Rouille
Votre couteau de plongée, canif ou autre lame sont tachées de rouille?
Introduisez la lame à plusieurs reprises dans un oignon cru.
Lorsque la lame est bien mouillée, saupoudrez la de sucre à glacer et frottez la énergiquement.
Elle deviendra brillante.
Empêcher vos outils de rouiller, en déposant des craies de tableau dans votre coffre.
Celles-ci absorbent l'humidité et ralentissent grandement la rouille.
Boussole
Vous avez de la difficulté à tourner le cadran de votre boussole?
Même si vous prenez bien la précaution de tout rincer après chaque plongée, il se peut que le trempage ne soit pas suffisant.
Rincer à l’eau tout doucement pour enlever les grains de sable ou le sel qui s’y serait logés.
Gonfleur du gilet
Le connecteur de votre gonfleur a de la difficulté à opérer, utiliser un lubrifiant à métal directement à l’intérieur et faite bouger tout le mécanisme pour bien lubrifier toutes les pièces amovibles.
Ceinture de plomb
Votre ceinture de plomb est devenue rigide, probablement incrustée de sable ou de sel.
Vous pouvez la laver avec un détergent à linge.
Rincez bien par la suite.
Bonne plongée en toute sécurité!

CARNAVAL
Du 4 au 7 février avait lieu le carnaval: Parade et orchestres étaient à l’honneur.
Locaux et touristes se sont rassemblés le long des rues afin d’admirer les costumes fait main.
