Peony Pageant – Queen Jubilee XL: See Mrs. McConahay for an application, over $3,000 in scholarships will be awarded. Applications due to Mrs. McConahay by Nov. 21st!

University of Dayton Women Engineering Program Overnight will be Friday, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m. until 10 a.m. Sat, Nov. 15. Explore Engineering event will be held on Saturday, Nov. 15 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Parent programs are available also. Register at go.udayton/exploreenginneering or call 937-229-3296.

ACT tests should be taken Dec. 13 to be considered for early admissions. ACT practice tests are in the guidance office. See Mrs. McConahay for a registration fee waiver if you qualify for free or reduced lunches. Registration info at www.actstudent.org; SAT at www.collegeboard.com

Yale Young Global Scholars Program is for current high school sophomore & junior student leaders. Summer sessions offered in Science, Policy & Innovation from July 25-Aug. 7; Politics, Law & Economics from June 23-July 6; International Affairs & Security from July 9-22. Juniors: A free ACT practice test for Juniors will be given on Feb. 11 from 8:20-11:30 a.m. at Parkway by Sylvan College Prep. Register by Feb. 6th for this opportunity to receive a personalized evaluation of your performance along with suggestions for improving your score, all at no cost to you.

Grades 9-12: Win cash for Letters about Literature contest. Deadline is Dec. 15. Theme is how an author’s work changed your view of the world or yourself. See Mrs. McConahay for entry form.

College Information:

Nov. 5th & 6th, Rhodes State will be hosting preview Rhodes events. On Nov. 5, Business & Public Service, Technology, & Arts & Sciences will be highlighted. Nov. 6 will focus on Allied Health, Nursing, Arts & Sciences. Both nights begin at 6:00 p.m., check in at 5:30. This is for Juniors and Seniors. Go to www.Rhodesstate.edu for more information.

Nov. 10 is the deadline for students to apply to University of Cincinnati College of Medicine Dual Admissions Program (DAP). Connections DAP students are reserved a seat in the University of College of Medicine provided they meet academic requirements. Nov. 15 Art Academy of Cincinnati Open House & Portfolio Reviews will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. RSVP at 513-562-8740 or

Nov. 15 Ohio State Beauty Academy, Lima, Ohio, Scholarship Testing and Open House. Open House from 9-12. Test will be 300 word essay with topic announced on day of test. Testing begins at 11:00 a.m. sharp. Five scholarships will be awarded. Register for the test on the OSBA website (www.ohiostatebeauty.com)

Rhodes State update: Students who wish to be considered for 2015 Occupational Therapy Assisting, Physical Therapy Assisting and Radiographic Imaging clinical entry should begin the admissions process this fall. Info at www.rhodesstate.edu/pta or www.rhodesstate.edu/ota or www.rhodesstate.edu/rad

IPFW: Apply by Dec. 15 for the Chapman or Doermer Scholars Programs. Scholars are awarded the full cost at IPFW for four years. For questions on the Chapman program, email Mary Moore-Bowers at or call 260.481.6924. (must score a 29 or above on ACT.) Tiffin University offers a unique music curriculum – a bachelor’s degree in Professional Music which allows students to work in popular and commercial music styles. The degree provides students with a modern musical skill set and marketable skills. BGSU Science & Math in Action scholarship for $4,000 for first year and increases following year for seniors considering teaching either secondary science or math OR middle childhood science and have GPA of 3.0, ACT of 23. Apply by January 23, 2015.

§  Jan. 5: John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Essay Contest – 1,000 word essay on the political courage of a U.S. elected official. Students in grades 9-12 are eligible. For guidelines, visit the Profile in Courage Award at http://www.jfklibrary.org $500-$5,000 awards.

§  Jan. 8: GE-Reagan Foundations $10,000 renewable scholarships to seniors with leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship. Apply at www.reaganfoundation.org/scholarships

§  Jan. 22: Ohio State University Alumni Association and the OSU Alumni Club of Mercer County scholarships to be turned in to the Guidance Office. You must be in the top 10% of your class, be involved in school & community activities, & show sound interest & positive attitude towards school/college & have applied to OSU. §  Jan. 30: Elks Legacy Awards $4,000 merit-based for children & grandchildren of Elks in good standing. You must apply online at www.elks.org/enf/scholars

§  Feb. 1: Ohio Valley Associated Builders & Contractors Scholarship of $1,000 to be awarded to a student planning to attend post high school program in a construction related field. Application in guidance office.

§  Feb. 1: SportQuest Playing with Purpose Program is providing scholarships to Christian Student Athletes. Apply at www.playingwithpurpose.org for additional information.

§  Feb. 10: Celina Insurance Group & Associates Scholarship will award $1,000 to a senior residing in Auglaize or Mercer County or a child/grandchild of a current Celina Insurance Group employee. You must be pursuing a 2 or 4 year degree applicable to the insurance industry. Application in guidance office.

§  Feb. 15: Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) has Ohio and National scholarships available. Applications in Guidance Office or online at www.ohiodar.org and www.dar.org Based on academic excellence and financial need.

§  Feb. 15: WACE Co-op Scholarship Program will award 160 merit scholarships. You must have 3.5 or better GPA & be accepted at one of the partner institutions – University of Cincinnati, University of Toledo, Drexel, Johnson & Wales, & more. Go to www.waceinc.org for more info.

§  Feb. 28: MED Foundation Scholarship – one student selected from each Mercer Co. school, ACT 25 or higher and entering a health care profession. Application in guidance office.

§  March 2: Creative Writing Contest by Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, “If I were Principal for a Day”. Go to www.clevelandfed.org/learning_center for more information. Grades 11 & 12.
