2012-2013 CLIPS (Critical Learning Instructional Paths Supports)
Professional Learning Adobe Connect Sessions


The CLIPS Professional Learning Adobe Connect Sessions are intended for teachers, coaches, and/or board leads involved in the instruction of mathematics.

Participants in the sessions will:

·  become more familiar with CLIPS resources on Math GAINS;

·  build specialized content knowledge about fractions and linear relations;

·  incorporate CLIPS into their classroom practice to build students’ conceptual understanding, increase and close gaps in their students’ achievement (if the participants are teachers);

OR

·  consider how to support classroom teachers in incorporating CLIPS into their classroom practice (if the participants are coaches and/or board mathematics leads)

A total of four 90-minute Adobe Connect sessions will be offered on the following days:

1. Complete the form to register as an individual or as a community of learners. Those who choose to learn together will share a single log-in at one site. Please note that enrolment is limited and registration form will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis.

2. E-mail your completed registration form to > and include “CLIPS Sessions” in the subject line.

3. Registrations are due no later than Wednesday December 18, 2012.

4. You will be notified of further details, including the URL required to connect to the Adobe Connect sessions, in a confirmation e-mail that will be sent upon receipt of your registration.

5. As a participant, you will require:

·  a computer with high speed internet (hard-wired, if possible)

·  a headset with a microphone (if you are participating individually)

·  speakers (if you are participating with a group)

·  Geometer’s Sketchpad 4 or higher loaded onto the computer, if you register for Session 1 and/or Session 3

o  To download Geometer’s Sketchpad 5, please contact your Board Operational Contact or OESS representative.

o  To find out who your Board Operational Contact or OESS representative is, visit the OESS website at <oess.sjpg.com> and click on “Contact Search”.

o  Use relevant terms in the search box provided. For example, inputting “Toronto” as a search term will determine who the contact person or representative is for the Toronto DSB or Toronto CDSB.

o  Your OESS representative will then guide you through the process of downloading the software onto your computer.

·  the experience of participating in an Adobe Connect learning session. Otherwise, please commit to learn the technical aspects of Adobe Connect prior to the session so that your learning experience is a positive one. Technical preparation sessions are offered at the following times.

-  January 15, 2013 – 4:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

-  March 19, 2013 – 4:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

-  April 15, 2013 – 4:00 p.m. to 4:30. p.m.
