The Midwife Mentor

This individualized workshop provides midwives with an opportunity to focus in depth on topics of interest to the midwife or midwives arranging the workshop. This is ideal for midwives who desire one-on-one mentoring on a specific topic, or for midwives who need a nurturing environment to explore what midwifery means to them.

Mentoring is available to meet a wide range of midwifery needs, such as refinement of clinical practice skills; guidance for development of quality improvement projects or tools; developing effective policies, staff development and communication skills;how to find one’s comfortable “sweet spot” and be effective as a change agent; and exploration of how to craft a personally meaningful and nurturing midwifery practice.

Current literature on the chosen topic or topics will be reviewed along with discussion of how best to apply the findings in the clinical practice setting. Hands-on simulation is available for laceration repair, shoulder dystocia, or other skills.

Creative and innovative approaches are applied to build non-linear problem-solving skills consistent with midwifery practice. The workshop integrates self-compassion with professional development to meet the demands of 21st century midwifery practice, and is tailored to meet the need of each participant.
