The purpose of Adair Co. R-1’s school wide discipline plan is to:
- create a safe, positive learning community
- maximize learning time
- foster personal growth
- increase student, staff, and community motivation.

Positive Behavior Support Essential Features Worksheet
- Establish Commitment: Administrations and staff agree to implement PBS as a way to support staff and students.
- Active Administrator Support
- PBS team comprised of variety of staff

- Establish & Maintain a Team: A representative team meets regularly and uses effective & efficient processes.

- Establish School-Wide & Non-classroom Expectations & Rules: Through a collaborative process, a list of expected behaviors for students and staff are developed from commonly occurring problem behaviors across school settings.
- Defined the building expectations: Be Responsible, Be Respectful, & Be Safe
- Developed the school behavior matrix (Social Skill Curriculum)
- Revised arrival, dismissal, playground, & hallway procedures
- Teach School-wide & Non-Classroom Expectations & Rules: All staff demonstrate, explain, and practice social skills within and across multiple school settings.
- Use lesson plans to teach expectations and skills for all school settings
- Weekly lessons are taught by all staff
- High School Teachers use activity period on Tuesdays to teach lessons
- Elementary Teachers teach lessons on Tuesday mornings somewhere between 8 and 8:30 a.m.
- Teachers use pre-corrects on a regular basis to support students in meeting expectations
- Lesson plan schedules are developed based on school-wide data
- Establish on-going School-wide System for Providing Specific Positive Performance Feedback:Students and staff are given specific, positive, frequent acknowledgment of desired social behavior.
- The building has an established school-wide system from providing performance feedback (Cat Tracks)
- Classes will earn celebration activities , when class goals are met
- System established for providing positive feedback to teachers & staff
- Establish system for responding to Behavioral Violations:A continuum of procedures for responding to social behavioral learning errors.
- Defined the response to problem behavior flow chart
- Revised office discipline referral form
- Defined major & minor behavior incidents
- Establish Data Collection & Information System: The collection of information to assess the effectiveness of procedures.
- UseSchool Wide Information System (SWIS)
- Share data with staff on a monthly basis
- Use building questionnaires and surveys to guide decision making
- Teachers can access data, on their students, to aide in decision making on interventions to put in place, revision of classroom management practices or to gain information on the results of a behavior plan they are using.
