JOB TITLE: / Sports Activity Project Officer
GRADE: / SCP 22-25

RESPONSIBLE TO / Cultural and Youth Project Leader
JOB SUMMARY: / To carry out and support a range of sports and activity projects that ensure the Council’s corporate priorities to encourage active & healthy lifestyles across the borough is delivered. Actively develop, promote and facilitate an agreed project program with key partners and stakeholders.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
1. / Contribute to the development and delivery of the Active Everyday (60+) programme. (Working with comms, design and other partners to grow the project into a successful one that improves Ashford’s over 60’s health related statistics)
2. / Consult with a range of stake holders and partners. (Involve groups/organisations that have an influence in the sporting world, and who could help deliver activities/promote projects).
3. / Work on the development of the Sport/Activity offer that Ashford has to offer to encourage participation and healthy lifestyle opportunities.
4. / Prepare and share a communications plan for the agreed suite of projects (Work with comms, to determine a plan with outcomes and objectives to work towards)
5. / Work with and lead where appropriate internal and external colleagues on the development and implementation of the new cycling strategy
6. / To make sure each project encourages quality from all partners (Constantly monitor and assess the quality of the projects, improve upon if required/possible by benchmarking and developing appropriate Performance Indicators)
7. / Work and support community sporting groups (Provide assistance to any community groups that need help in regards to development/funding/growing, and support throughout).
8. / Ensure projects bring “life” to existing open spaces and sporting “hubs” identified in the Local Plan 2030. This will include existing built facilities and their key operators.
9. / Determine what sports Ashford is missing/lacking in and work on developing new clubs/improving existing ones
10. / Work with the Council’s Facility Development Manager in regards to facilities management/development. (Potential for Over 60’s activities to be promoted/provided on ABC facilities
11. / Assist with the planning and delivery of national/international related activities and major sporting events.
13. / Business Continuity
a)  In the event that an incident has occurred which disrupts the Council's ability to deliver its critical functions, to undertake duties within your competencies in other departments and/or at other locations.
14. / Data Protection
To ensure that data quality and integrity is maintained and that data is processed in accordance with Council policy, the Data Protection Act, the Freedom of Information Act, and other legislation.
15. / Health and Safety
All employees have responsibilities under The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. These responsibilities are laid out in the Council’s Health and Safety Policy, available on the Intranet or from Personnel.
16. / Additional Duties
To undertake any additional duties of a similar level of responsibility as may be required from time to time.
OTHER CONDITIONS: / The post will require travelling to different locations within the borough and occasionally outside of the Borough.
Some evening and weekend working will be required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

EDUCATION & TRAINING/ QUALIFICATIONS / Degree in relevant discipline: sport and physical activity or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE / Post qualification experience / Local government planning process
Experience of Sport sector
Compiling funding applications
Writing project proposals and briefs
Developing/or utilising performance monitoring systems and data
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE / Excellent communicator with an ability to work with a range of partners and have a “can do” approach.
IT literate and able to manage/update web based material. / Excellent writing and communication skills
Able to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

/ Creative with a passion for good design and developing a quality product.
Able to work on own initiative
Weekend and evening working at times.
