Mike Flynn Continues Fifth Third Dynasty

The Fifth Third team led by five time winner Mike Flynn, pictured far left above, shot a -15 to win 2013 Low Gross honors. Mike Flynn was also a team member of the 2007, 2008, 2011 and 2012 winning teams. Also pictured above left to right are Ryan Dirks in a really cool UK shirt, Chris Bezold and Steve Lackey.

A Fifth Third team has won or shared the honors in the outing six of the last seven years. The streak was interrupted in 2010 by a Robert Half team and shared with a Horizons-AFTS team in 2012.

Close on the heels of the Fifth Third team was the Moore father-son team at -14. Pictured left to right are Chris Naber, Bill Moore Sr., Bill Moore Jr. and Ken O’Brien.

There were 103 golfers in the annual outing that funds student scholarships administrated by the local IIA and ISACA chapters. IIA Chapter President Brandon Keller, second from the left above, was present for the outing and won Split the Pot. The team won one Skins point. Others pictured above left to right from AFG/GAIC are Chris Myers, Todd Heine and Brian McNalley. The annual events have resulted in donations of $5,434 over six years.

Tom and Donna Carlisle were honored, once again, to host the annual event at the Flagg Springs Golf Course, located in beautiful California, Kentucky. The rib eye steaks after golf were delicious and refreshments always plentiful.

The Carlisle/Tocash team made another respectable showing, finishing with 9 birdies for a score of -9. Pictured above left to right are, Tom Carlisle, Tom Tocash, Bruce Miller and Bill Laib. And yes, we did use all 60 mulligans.

The other contest winners were:

Longest Drive #2 men Chris Janson

Longest Drive #2 women Bobbi Larken

Closest to Pin #3 Patrick Whitmer

Shortest Drive #5 James Bolte

Closest to Pin #6 Chris Naber

Longest Putt #9 Tom Tocash

Longest Drive #10 Carol Sigmon

Closest to Pin #11 Ryan Keiser

Closest to Pin #14 Dennis Mele

Shortest Drive #17 Jon Dorbecker

Longest Putt #18 Todd Heine

First Last or High Gross contest winner at eleven over par was the Western Southern team. Pictured above left to right are Lindsey Dougherty, Sarah Staubach, Matt Butsch and Andy Gill.

The PricewaterhouseCoopers team pictured above scored the most Skins contest points, 14, shooting -7. Left to right are Matt Faust, John Mark Kennedy, Greg Maggard and Dustin Class.

Special Mention

Bob Dobbs and American Financial Group/Great American Insurance Company fielded five teams and also provided a sleeve of golf balls for each player.

Bob Dobbs, although unable to play this year, donated an additional $300, including $200 designated to help fund the IIA Cincinnati Chapter Student Scholarships. The IIA Chapter is an IRS 501(c)(3) charitable organization for purposes of student scholarships and donations may be deductible.

Extra-Special Mention

Our volunteers: Donna Carlisle, Gary Franklin, Mike Flynn, Bob Greene, Chris James, Brandon Keller, Anthony Kuhl, Scott Sutherland, Tom Tocash, Allen Stone and Erin, Kim & Megan of Horizons-AFTS.

AFG/GAIC retiree Marc Shapiro
