Visit to museum & typed report are required. Any student who has a problem should notify instructor.

*Wed March 15- * transportation on SPSU bus to 1st 25 students who pay $4.00 (Bus $2 & Admin. $2) (bus leaves at 10 and returns at 10:55; bus leaves at 11 and returns at 11:55), non-bus riders must provide own transp. Parking is limited. Students are encouraged to go during class time on Wed March 15, but they may attend at another time, and/or day. Warning the exhibit closes on Saturday March 18. Plan to go on the 15, 16, 17 or 18. (Museum is open 11-5 Tues –Fri.; Sat 11-4. Closed Sun. & Mon.). MCMA is approx. 2 ½-3 miles from SPSU.

Directions from SPSU: Exit left onto South Marietta Parkway. Travel approx. 2 miles to Atlanta Street (just before the railroad overpass) Turn right onto Atlanta Street. Go 2 blocks. Located 30 Atlanta St. on the left at the traffic light at Anderson Street, one block before the City of Marietta Square.

Parking: Free parking is located: behind the museum; Just before the museum is a City Parking lot; and limited on street parking –watch signs. Street parking is also free for 2 hours. (Streets are one way so you may need to circle around the block turning left behind the museum building and going to the corners to get back onto Atlanta Street. There are also Pay parking lots located a few blocks from MCMA turning right down Anderson Street with $5.00 lots and some higher. There are police who walk the streets and write tickets!

Exhibition: Metro Montage VI is a juried exhibition that features artworks created by artists in the metro Atlanta area. The art works represent a variety of subject matter, including the traditional subject matters of: landscape, portraiture, still life and genre and are in many different mediums ranging from photography, oil paintings, watercolors, pottery and mixed media. (Notice subject matter and mediums; Notice Styles of the artists; Notice the style- the similarities and qualities in different artworks created by the same artist.)

Objectives of the visit:

I Notice architectural features of the Greek Revival Building: (Doric columns; Pediment; inside consoles, acanthus leaves0

II View original works of art in a museum setting,

III Recognize various media: (painting) oil-acrylic-watercolor, (drawing) pastel-charcoal-ink on paper, (sculpture), mixed media and traditional crafts media- ceramics, wood, etc.

IV Recognize traditional and non-traditional subject matter;

V Recognize artists individual styles; (view artworks by living local/regional American Artists)

VI Identify and evaluate artworks, critique and determine preferences; artworks that “caught your eye”
