SPRING SHOW 2014 PROSPECTUS

January 31- March 1, 2014

Members of Art Council-affiliated organizations are invited to submit entries to be juried for acceptance into the upcoming Spring Show sponsored by the Art Council of Southwest Florida. These works will be displayed at the von Liebig Art Center, Naples Art Association, Naples, Florida. We hope that you will promote the show and invite your friends, neighbors, and former buyers. This is a wonderful opportunity to display your work in a setting with a potential for a high volume of viewers and possible sales.

VENUE: von Liebig Art Center, Naples Art Association, Naples, Florida

RECEIVING: Wednesday, January 22, 2014, 10am, to 4pm

REMOVAL: Monday, March 3, 2014, 10am to 4pm

The Co-Chairs will call Artists of declined works after 4:00pm on Thursday, January 23. 2014.

DECLINED ENTRIES must be picked up: Friday, January 24, 2014, 10am – 4pm

ACCEPTED ENTRIES must be picked up at the end of the Spring Show as follows:

Monday, March 3, 2014, 10am to 4pm

Please Note: All artwork MUST BE REMOVED PROMPTLY on the above dates and times as there is no storage available. Please make arrangements to have your artwork picked up if you are unable to do so yourself. Contact the Co-Chairs, IN ADVANCE, for answers to questions.

ELIGIBILITY:A current, up-to-date Membership Card for an art organization belonging to the Art Council is required.

ENTRY FEE:A non-refundable fee of $20.00 for the first entry & $15.00 for the second entry, for a maximum of two entries per artist.

AWARDS (Duplicate awards for 2D and 3D winners):

-1st Place - $300; 2nd Place - $200; 3rd Place - $100;

-Judge’s Choice Awards – non monetary, in both 2D and 3D categories.

-Presidents’ Choice Award – All Presidents of Art Council Member Organizations vote to choose one winner (either 2D or 3D) who will be given a glass trophy.

RECEPTION:For Art Council-Affiliated Organizations, their members and invited guests only. Reception will be held on Opening Night as follows: Friday, January 31, 2014, 5:30pm – 7:30pm at the von Liebig Art Center, Naples. AwardCeremonytocommence at 6:30pm.

EXHIBITION: All work must be original and completed by the Artist, and not exhibited previously in Art Council of Southwest Florida Spring Shows. Works which have been in, or are eligible for the Winners’ Circle Show, may not be entered.

SIZE & FRAMING: Minimum size of Two-Dimensional artwork is 124 square inches including frame. Maximum size of ALL two-dimensional artwork is 42 inches wide, and 84 inches long, including frame. Two dimensional artwork must be suitably framed and wired (no saw-tooth hangers) with wire-ends taped. Wire, when pulled, must be at least three inches down from the center of the top of the frame. Fasteners, such as screw eyes that hold wire, must be totally secure. Mats, glass or Plexiglas should be clean and not scratched or marred. Paintings the size of full-size watercolor paper or larger, must have acrylic glazing. Paintings on canvas must be framed or have "wrap-around" canvas WITH THE SIDES PAINTED and NO STAPLES SHOWING. A Diptych will be considered two entries; however, they will be hung together and judged as a whole if appropriate information is provided. The entry forms must be noted, "Diptych" and include the order of hanging.

All submitted 3D work must be able to be displayed on pedestals, or on walls, with size and weight dependent on available space. Jewelry must be displayed within acrylic boxes for security purposes. Contact Co-Chairs for answers to specific questions.

EXCLUSIONS: The Committee, the judges, and/or the Art Council of Southwest Florida reserve the right to exclude any work with subject matter or presentation deemed inappropriate.

SALES: All Sales will be handled by the von Liebig Art Center. A 6% Sales Tax will be added to the listed price. The von Liebig Art Center will collect a 30% commission on the sale of all art work. Artists should price their works accordingly.

COMMISSIONS & FEES:

  • The commission for von Liebig Art Center is 30%.
  • No commission from sales will be payable to the Art Council.

FORMS: Copies of the Prospectus, Entry Forms and Waiver are available at the Art Council of Southwest Florida website - League forms or other waivers will not be accepted.

Please complete all Entry Forms and Waivers BEFORE YOU COME TO RECEIVING IN ORDER TO ENSURE A SMOOTH PROCESS.

ARTISTS TAKE NOTE: All artists accepted into the Spring Show 2014 will be asked to submit a brief, 50-word artist statement which will be used by Docents for Gallery tours. In addition, all artists accepted into the Spring Show 2014 will be asked to provide a JPEG of their work(s) for use with publicity and marketing.
