Discussion Points:

a. Update on SEACCN joint activities

- Revisiting the objective of the SEACCN, which is to create a network of cooperation between second cities to share resources. This year, we are at the collaboration project stage whereby selected partners work towards the implementation of collaborative projects.

- With regards to funding for some of these projects, Think City will explore possible partnerships with Air Asia Foundation and CIMB foundation to support selected projects. Air Asia Foundation supported in kind flights for participants from Chiangmai and Bandung to attend the AA Visiting School in Cebu. This can be expanded once there are clearly defined collaboration projects.

- CEBU to concentrate on the AA programme into action plans.

- BANDUNG to look into Streetware workshop with the AA and Urban conservation planning workshop with The Getty Foundation.

- Chiang Mai to concentrate more on design and product development.

- Think City has supported participations from the SEACCN to attend Cebu programme and will continue support with the programme in BANDUNG.

- Cebu & Chiangmai – To explore collaborations between individual artist or designers towards Product & Design development.

b. Report on the AA Visiting School Cebu

- The programme has been successful with 39 participations from the local universities, professionals, and SEA students.

- There were four AA tutors facilitating the programme

- The outputs from the programme were presented to the partners, which included the Dean, and the DTI. It was well received.

- AA visiting school launched last year’s Streetware book, which was conducted in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. The Cebu edition will be launched in Bandung in July 2017.

c. Proposed programme for 2016/17

- TC-AA visiting school at Bandung, Bandung is looking at the 6 main corridors in the old town. Think City will assist in the pre development programme work and framework.

The Creative Economy Council of Bandung will ensure participations of the local university and professionals, showcasing an ideal case of Public Private Partnerships.

- TC-Bandung programme at BFF & Johor Bharu, the Creative Economy Council will be visiting BFF and JB in August. This will also include a proposal for Bandung artists to work with local artists collaboration with Johor Bharu city.

- Penang-Cebu collaboration on the Cultural District, this is an effort to flesh out some of the recommendations from the AA Visiting School in Cebu. It is proposed that Cebu Creative Council will work towards developing a concept plan for the development of a Cultural District by activating selected historic buildings and improving connectivity as well as upgrading of public open spaces.

- Possible collaboration with individual designers at LOKA, to start discussion with Bandung, where they have 25 products ready for retail.

d. Next steps

- BANDUNG to visit BFF & JB, to discuss the AA Programme for 2017. TC will facilitate and follow up with a recce trip to Bandung.

- The SEACCN to embark on product developments, however to start with respective individual collaborations.
