Pastor’s Page

March 2016

O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you...

as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.

So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory.

Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you.

Psalm 63:1-3

+

Could it be that spring is almost here? Could it be that Easter is upon us?

Yes, spring and Easter are almost here. So, as we continue our Lenten journey this month, it is a very good time to seek God, to be in God’s sanctuary, and because God’s love is better than life itself—it is a very good time to praise God.

So, please come. Come and worship. We have many opportunities this month. Certainly be here on Easter morning. Services will be held on Easter Sunday at 6:30 and 9 am.

Come during Holy Week. Maundy Thursday we worship at 7 p.m. Twice on Good Friday, at noon and at seven p.m. we will remember what the Lord has done for us on the cross. Easter Saturday we will praise God through the Easter Vigil service at 5:30 p.m.

Until Holy Week, we worship three times a week—with our Wednesday evening Lenten service at 7 p.m. We have our usual and sacred worship services on Saturday and Sunday.

And so we praise God with our lips and in our hearts saying, “Thank you, Lord, for so many opportunities to worship you in Your Sanctuary.” We are truly blessed.

God’s peace is with you this month. Spring is here, or almost here. Thanks be to God for His everlasting and steadfast love.

Sharing from the Heart….

We look ahead to March and celebrating Easter with our families, we all have some favorite recipes passed down from generations. As with most holidays, we linger around the table, enjoying our families and being thankful for this season and its promise… We typically eat too much! If you’re looking for a light, fresh evening dessert this fruit cup may just be the thing!

Rainbow Spritzer

½ cup blueberries

½ cup chopped peeled kiwi fruit

½ cup chopped fresh pineapple

½ cup sliced fresh strawberries

1 cup chilled ginger ale

½ cup chilled unsweetened

pineapple juice

½ cup chilled lemonade

Layer blueberries, kiwi, pineapple and strawberries in 4 goblets. Mix remaining ingredients; pour over fruit and serve immediately. It’s fresh, it’s light but it’s so delectable! Enjoy!
