Watergrove 30th Anniversary ride

Saturday 18th June 2016 – 18km

Venue – Wardle Academy, Birch Road, Wardle, Rochdale,

OL12 9RD.

Your bib number is:

Ride start time: Strictly between 9am and 10.15am. Park carefully then book in with the secretary to collect your bib number.

Directions: Exit M62 jnc21 (Milnrow), turn right at roundabout following A640 signs, left over next roundabout, left again onto Elizabethan Way. Pass Aldi on the left, straight through the lights. Turn right at next lights onto Albert Royds Street. Stay on this road down the hill and take 2nd exit to Halifax Road A58 (L’boro). Straight over the mini roundabout for approx. 1 mile, at the next main traffic lights turn left onto Birch Road, follow 0.5 miles to Wardle Academy on the left.

Course: Small amount of quiet road work, moorland tracks, concessionary bridleways, parts of Pennine Bridleway, gates – some manned.

Unless a gate is specifically tied or propped open – make sure it is closed behind you.

Route markings: Yellow spray paint.

Important information: Please adhere to the following tail ribbon rules

BLUE- stallion – mandatory

RED – may kick

GREEN – young/novice horse

Be aware that there may be livestock grazing on part of the route (sheep, cows and horses), proceed with caution, they won’t follow you.

PLEASE CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELVES AT THE VENUE!

Do not leave horses unattended at your vehicle.

This is a local Bridleways ride that will be run in accordance with EGB rules as most entrants are EGB members. Therefore please take note of rule 2.4.7 in general riding rules (pg98) ‘Overtaking: riders wishing to overtake shall 1st obtain permission from the rider in front and then overtake with due care and attention. Any rider who is about to be overtaken should quickly clear the way. Wilful obstruction of an overtaking rider or inconsiderate and/or dangerous overtaking may be penalised by elimination’.

There may also be young riders taking part in this event, rule 1.1.12 (pg93) ‘whenever possible unaccompanied young riders will be sent out near the start of each class’, therefore please can all riders be considerate of this.

Please park your vehicles carefully and as close together as possible to ensure everyone fits on the car park. Drinks and snacks are available afterwards. After the ride see to your horses then return your bib and collect your rosette.
