  1. Welcome our Student Representative Amin Assareh.

  2. MS student’s request for extension of time to complete his MS degree, discussed and recommended by GSC last meeting, was approved by Dr. Stalvey.
  3. Graduate Program Revision proposal of GSC was approved by Curriculum Committee.
  1. Resultsand discussion of past Prelim Exam.
  2. It took place on September 10, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
  3. 3 subjects, approximately 1 hour per subject.
  4. Transition time from previous format. Some students took only one or two subjects as they passed already others under old format.
  5. The exam is graded. Out of 6 students 3 passed the exam. One student did not pass but have used only one sitting. He needs to retake the exam in Spring semester. Two remaining students did not pass and they have used all their sittings.
  6. More info will be provided in a spreadsheet.
  7. Discussion, if necessary, of the rules of pass, not pass.
  1. Two studentrequests for one more sitting for Prelim Exam.
  • Md Amiruzzaman: Got Algorithms 67%, DS 85%, OS 57%. Used 2nd sitting for each subject. His letter will be provided.

Approval:

  • Fadi Tashtoush: Got Algorithms 75%, DS 67%, OS 52%. Used 2nd sitting for DS and OS. Had extension before for Algorithms (hence, 3rd sitting) and got 75% on it. His letter and advisor’s letter will be provided.

Approval:

  1. Graduate class offerings for Fall 2011.
  2. According to our core classes’ 4-semester rotation schedule, we have to offer.

CS 6/73201: Advanced Operating Systems

CS 6/76101: Advanced Topics in Algorithms

  • 7 faculty submitted proposals on electives (3-semester rotation basis). Proposals will be distributed and discussed.
  • How many electives to offer (5?).
  • 6 courses in total were offered this Fall (enrollments: 23, 5, 24, 11, 21, 2) plus M/D seminar (20 students).
