The Microsoft Store at Ala Moana and Autism Society of Hawaii have teamed up to lunch the Microsoft Kids Technology Series! Technology continues to advance and has transformed learning for all students. This series will help kids learn about technology in a fun and interesting way.

Hour of Code

o  What's your dream future? Inventing something cool? Helping the environment? Whatever it is, chances are that coding can help bring it to life. Through coding, you can make apps, games, products, and more. Everyone starts somewhere, so take your first step and do your Hour of Code today!

Smart Movie Making

o  Shoot. Edit. Watch. Capture all the action without the lights or fancy camera. Unleash your imagination and start making real movies right from your phone or tablet. Using Windows Phone and Surface Pro, we’ll teach you how produce, direct, design and animate your own flicks, any time you want. Get ready to impress and share your masterpieces with your family and friends!

Smart Photo Taking

o  Point. Snap. Perfect. Why do some photos just pop? Learn new tricks for taking great photos from your phone. We’ll teach you how to edit photos, adjust lighting and colors, and even apply filters for more effects. Beyond basic images, we’ll help you build interactive worlds in Photosynth, make yourself into art with Photo Fuse, and create huge panoramas with Gigipixel ArtZoom.

Netiquette/Internet Safety

o  Basic skills and techniques for online communication. Hands-on practices to cultivate effective written communication. Basic tips of how to protect yourself and your loved ones on the internet

Each workshop provides hands-on instruction and teaches the tools and tips children need to know in today’s world of continually advancing technology. This series is focused on children in grades 7-12 and has been modified for children with autism and developmental delays. Future series will focus on other grade levels. Please note that class sizes are limited to 8 participants on a first come, first serve basis, so be sure to sign up today! Participants should be able to attend all 8 sessions.
