Kent County ShowFlies High

APRIL 2014

As part of the Kent County Show 2014, the organisers will be launching a new website to help visitors make the most of the three day event in July.

Lucy Hegarty, Show Manager said “we have been lucky enough over the past few years to have had some wonderful photographs taken. The new site will feature a number of gallery images highlighting the many aspects of the Show. Visitors will be able to see pictures of events, demonstrations, activities and competitions as well as reading about them.”

The new website will also welcome the start of the online ticket sales. The e-ticket system will once again operate right up until the start of the Show on Friday 11th July 2014. There will be no booking fee and visitors booking ahead will save considerably on the gate prices.

Lucy Hegarty, Show Manager explains “We are making the Show as accessible to the general public as possible. There is so much to do that we want visitors to have a streamlined experience. Pre-booking will allow easy access to the Show and using the new website will mean visitors can decide what their favourite parts of the Show will be.”

One of the big attractions making a return for 2014, will be the Spitfire Display. The ‘Spirit of Kent’ better known as ‘The Kent Spitfire’ is a MK9 TA805 with the No. 234 Squadron colours. The aircraft flies in memory of No. 131 (County of Kent) Fighter Squadron.

The Kent Spitfire will be completing an exciting display over the County Showground on all three Show days, Friday 11th, Saturday 12th and Sunday 13thJuly.

Robin Brooks, from the Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar, said “This plane was sold to the South African Airforce in the early 1960’s as an operational aircraft. It flew until 1976 when it was scrapped. It returned to the UK in the 1980’s and was rebuilt on the Isle of Wight. The Heritage Hangar later purchased the plane, and we are delighted that we are able to fly her at the Kent County Show.”

The display commentary will take place in the main Astor Ring but the iconic aircraft will be seen and heard over the entire Show. Details of the display can be found on the new website

Lucy Hegarty, Show Manager said “The new website will work alongside our Kent County Show iphone app which can be downloaded free from the App Store. Visitors can either use the ‘Plan Your Day’ system on our website or the iphone app. We have over 100 individual events taking place each day, so the features offered on our website and app will help visitors plan their perfect day. Once an itinerary is created it can be printed or emailed.”

The website will also include a competition to win family tickets for the 2014 Show. The competition is free to enter with an easy online entry form.

The Kent County Show events start at 8am and continue until the Show closes at 6pm. This year will see in excess of 400 stands in the numerous shopping zones and a choice of local and international food at the six large food courts around the Showground. Car parking is free, under 5’s are free and dogs on a lead are welcome.*

Family tickets are £37 pre-paid (2 x adult & 2 x child)£45 on the gate. Adult tickets are priced at £20 on the gate, £18 in advance, a child ticket is £6 on the gate and £5 pre-paid (child ticket is valid from 5 to 15 years).
