UNIVERSITY OF ULSTER

LIBRARY

Registering with RefWorks and Downloading Write-N-Cite.

RefWorks Bibliographic Management Software.

TheLibrary provides RefWorks, a web-based bibliographic management service that will allow you to create your own personal databases and produce bibliographies in a range of formats. References can be imported from the library catalogue and many of the University of Ulster Library – Databases. References can also be typed in manually. Because RefWorks is web-based, you have the flexibility of being able to access your referencing databases from any computer connected to the Internet. You do not have to install the RefWorks software or to store your bibliographies on each computer you wish to use.

The Write-n-Cite plug-in allows you to insert references from RefWorks into a Word document as you are writing it. The Write-N-Cite software is already loaded on all Common Desktop Environment computers on campus, but needs to be installed on your office or home Personal Computer if you wish to use it there.

Important Note: References saved to RefWorks while logged in via the UU Portal or WebCT cannot be accessed when logged in via the previous Athens Authentication route, and vice versa. New users should always login to RefWorks via the UU Portal. Previous users should contact the library training staff to organize a backup and restore of their existing references.
