Our office strives to provide care to as many patients as possible while simultaneously keeping the encounters safe for both patients and staff. Below you will find a description of the accommodations that the Body Works Clinic is able to provide, as well as the situations in which we can longer offer safe treatment.

· Building accessibility: the building has a handicap accessible door on the East side of the building. If you need assistance opening the door, please use the buzzer button to ring up the staff and someone will come and open the door shortly.

· The bathroom and all the doors to the treatment rooms meet ADA size requirements.

· The front patient counter is wheelchair accessible.

· The following physical limitations CAN be accommodated: patients who need to use a cane or walker to get to and from the treatment rooms and treatment tables. Alternately, patients may ask a staff for ambulation support as long as they are fully weightbearing and not a risk of immediate fall. The staff reserves the right to use a transfer belt in those instances.

· Patients need to be able to dress and undress themselves, or present in clothing that provides easy access to the areas that need to be treated ( loose shirt that can be lifted up, wide neck cowls, loose sweat pants, slip on shoes). If patients cannot dress or undress themselves, they are welcome to attend the appointment with a personal care assistant, relative or friend who can assist them. The staff can help out with putting on and tying shoes upon request.

· Patients need to be able to get on and off the treatment tables with minimal to no assistance. The patient is welcome to bring along a personal care assistant, friend or relative if they need significant assistance to do so.

·  Under the following circumstances patients CANNOT SAFELY be accommodated : unable to bear weight, immediate risk of fall, unable to get on/off treatment table and presenting without personal care attendant. Body weight over 350 lbs, due to equipment and doctor limitation.

·  Visually impaired patients: the staff can read out loud any and all applicable paperwork to the patient in a private area. Please notify us of this need ahead of time when you make your appointment so that we can schedule you at a time when we have staff overlap that allows us to dedicate a full staff member for this need. The patient will be guided by Dr Demel during treatment and may keep their cane at their side at all times.

·  Hearing impaired patients: written communication via clipboard can be provided as an alternative to oral communication. Please notify us of this need ahead of time when making an appointment so that we may extend your appointment duration to account for the extra written communication. Dr. Demel may use google voice recognition software on her tablet to expedite communication. For patients who cannot accommodate their hearing impairment in this manner and require a ASL translator, please be aware that our resources to provide that accommodation are very limited and may require a week’s advance notice to line up videoconferencing translation.

·  Patients who use a certified service animal are welcome to attend the appointment with their helper. Patients using a therapy animal may be accommodated at the discretion of Dr. Demel.

·  Any other accommodation needs not covered under this document, please contact the office so that we can do our best to creatively meet your needs.
