Elton John a father for second time

British pop star Elton John announced today he had become a father for the second time after the birth via a surrogate mother of Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John. The "Rocket Man" and "Candle in the Wind" singer and his partner David Furnish confirmed the news in a short statement on John's official website.

"Both of us have longed to have children, but the reality that we now have two sons is almost unbelievable," said the couple, who entered a civil partnership in 2005. "The birth of our second son completes our family in a most precious and perfect way," they told People. John, 65, and Furnish, 50, are already parents to Zachary, who is two. Elijah was born in Los Angeles on Jan. 11. "I know when he goes to school there's going to be an awful lot of pressure, and I know he's going to have people saying, 'You don't have a mummy,'" John said of his decision to have another baby. "It's going to happen. We talked about it before we had him. I want someone to be at his side and back him up. We shall see."

News the couple were adding to their family broke in November, with an insider claiming they will never reveal the name of the woman who helped them become parents. "Elton and David love this lady like a sister and they feel indebted to her for life," a source said. "Naturally she has been well rewarded. But her identity will never be revealed. They are over the moon." Last year, the 65-year-old star admitted he would love more children and hoped Zachary wouldn't grow up as an only child. "We definitely will have another one. At what stage we don't know, but we definitely will," he said. "I regret a little bit that I didn't do it sooner, but he has changed our lives."

The boy does have a mother. It was a woman who naturally gave birth to him. He is, simply, living with two people one of which is assumingly the real father. I hope the boy, as his brother , would be allowed someday to meet and know their mother, lest they would feel like they are freaks, born unnaturally of a man.

i am not against gay marrage, but adoption of this kind is not right, what about the child when he or she grows up and goes to school and other kids are going to abuse them for havin 2 fathers instead of mum and dad??

'where does the church stand on this?' Not too many people care
'...... and why is there not an outcry by social services and any other child protection agency' Because the child is in no danger.
'A damn disgrace' - Yip giving a child a loving home. Absolutely ridiculous

Doesnt the kid have any right???? Cause i cant see the child having a choice of possibly having a real mother, or even to know what a REAL mother is like. Is that against nature, against freedom of choice, against the child, to be a teenager, adult never knowing a female mother??? Isnt this ONLY what Mr Elton and Furnish want?? What does the child want?? What will he want?? This is so F.UP......

This will also be heard in Malta if the decision "in the best interest of the child" is taken in consideration.
Will this ever be the best interest of the child?
We will have to teach children that it is also normal not to have a mummy

The mother is an American woman who,for a huge fee, agreed to have his baby, presumably by IVF...as this couple are millionaires the children will have the best of everything plus a good boarding school...
