5K & 10K RUN, 1 Mile Youth

LOCATION

Quincy, IL –Quincy’s secret is out! A 5K & 10K combination road race/cross country race or walk that begins & ends at Quincy Notre Dame High School located at 10th & Jackson Street. The races will take you through one or two of Quincy’s beautiful & historic river-bluff parks. Participants will enjoy the challenges presented by either course. The 5K course with rolling hills & beautiful park scenery is suitable for all ranges of participants. The 10K course is a perfect companion to the Hannibal Cannibal Race. Competitors will be challenged by the long hills in Indian Mounds Park & by Quincy’s infamous Jackson Hill. There are several beautiful bluff views of the Mississippi River Valley along this route. OUR MISSION

Quincy Notre Dame High School seeks to build a community of learners among its faculty, staff, students and parents. QND fosters an environment of consideration and acceptance, while challenging its members to develop their potential through strong educational and extracurricular programs. RACE-DAY registration and packet pickup – Beginning at 6:00am to deadline 7:15 a.m. -Continued for 2016! We will also pass out packets from 3-6pm Friday in the school foyer.

YOUR RACE BIB GETS PINNED TO THE FRONT OF YOUR SHIRT!

AWARDS

Continued for 2016!!! Break a overall course record in either the 5K or 10K Runs and win a free pair of running shoes from Running Wild!

Overall top male/female winners in each run as well as overall top two male/female winners in each age group category will be awarded prizes in the 5K and the overall top three male female winners in each age group category will be awarded prizes in the 10K runs. Top four male and female finishers of the 5K walk will be awarded prizes. All Fun Run entrants will receive an award.

RAIDER RULES OF THE ROAD

FOR YOUR SAFETY WE CANNOT ALLOW THE FOLLOWING:

Rollerblades, skates, skateboards, scooters, bikes or walking sticks

Pets strongly discouraged

Headsets discouraged – Not responsible for missed instructions or accidents due to headset use.

Baby strollers and jogging strollers are not allowed due to the terrain of the race course.

Everyone – Race begins and ends in front of Quincy Notre Dame High School, located at 10th & Jackson Street. Proceed to 12th & Jackson and cross RJ Peters Drive. Go west along RJ Peters Drive. Cross 8th Street.

5K - Follow RJ Peters to Gardner Expressway and return. Run under Stone Arch Bridge and follow path back to ponds. Cross footbridge and follow steps up to South Park. Turn right at top of steps and follow road around the perimeter of South Park. Exit South Park at north entrance. Go west on grass along RJ Peters to a crossing point next to the turnabout. Cross and follow cut-through to backside of QND. Run through tennis court parking lot to Jackson, turn left and follow sidewalk to finish line.

10K – Follow RJ Peters to Gardner Expressway and return. Turn into Indian Mounds Park and follow road to 5th Street. Go north on sidewalk along 5th to Jackson. Go west on Jackson to Gardner Expressway and return through Indian Mounds Park. Cross RJ Peters and run under Stone Arch Bridge and follow back to ponds. Cross footbridge and follow steps up to South Park. Turn right at top of steps and follow road around the perimeter of South Park. Exit South Park at north entrance. Go west on grass along RJ Peters to a crossing point next to the turnabout. Cross and follow cut-through to backside of QND.
