A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in honor and loving memory of William H. "Bill" Bruce.

WHEREAS, Bill Bruce, a native of Hopkinsville, was born April 16, 1948, to the late Kyle Kenneth and Hassie Nell Franklin Bruce and departed from this life on October 22, 2010. A son, William Kyle Bruce predeceased him in 1978; and

WHEREAS, after graduating from the University of Kentucky, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Alpha, Mr. Bruce returned to Hopkinsville and served as district sales manager for Kentucky Farm Bureau for 36 years. He was deeply committed to its members and gained not only the respect and admiration of the agricultural community, but also that of countless others for his exemplary service in finding solutions to problems and enhancing the quality of life for all; and

WHEREAS, Bill Bruce was in his twentieth year of service as Magistrate for Christian County's District 7 and was a member of the Budget Committee of the Fiscal Court; and

WHEREAS, Bill Bruce was a true servant and tirelessly worked to improve life for the people. He was especially involved in furthering the services of the Christian County Health Department, where he was on the board and instrumental in establishing a partnership with Saint Luke's Clinic to provide free health care for those in need. He also served on the boards of the Hopkinsville-Christian County Airport, the Christian County Animal Shelter, and the Hopkinsville-Christian County Community and Development Services; and

WHEREAS, Bill Bruce was deeply appreciative of nature and God's creations. He enjoyed outdoor activities and especially loved horses and dogs. He served as president of the Clarksville Pointer and Setter Club and vice president of the Ohio Valley Bird Dog Field Trial Circuit; and

WHEREAS, Bill Bruce, a gentleman who loved life and with whom friends cherished sharing time, was a devout Christian and member of First Christian Church, where he worshipped and witnessed for God, striving to daily live in accordance with Christ's teachings. He selflessly devoted his time and talents to helping others and was ever mindful of the many blessings in his own life; and

WHEREAS, the passing of Bill Bruce has cast a shadow of sadness over his beloved Christian County and the surrounding area. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Janice Toms Bruce; two sons, John Brandon Bruce and Cary Jason Bruce; three sisters, Jeannie Bruce Jung, Dr. Deborah Bruce, and Sandy Bruce Power; two grandchildren; countless cherished friends throughout the Commonwealth; and an entire community of individuals who greatly admired and respected him. Bill Bruce will be greatly missed, but his many good deeds will continue to positively impact the lives of others for years to come and he will be remembered with love and gratitude;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

âSection 1. The House of Representatives does hereby convey its profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Bill Bruce and extends its heartfelt sympathy to his beloved family members, his many friends, and the Christian County community.

âSection 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving memory of Bill Bruce.

âSection 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mrs. Janice Bruce, 312 Jonaquin Circle, Hopkinsville, Kentucky 42240.
