JUNQUE RULES OF GOLF

Occasionally some of the members of BogeyBoys play a game called JUNQUE. The game is one of skill and has as its purpose to reward players with “dots” for certain shots and/or circumstances. Since there seems to be some confusion from time to time and also new players are added to the group, a description of the rules is important such that all players understand a standard set of rules for JUNQUE. The following is a compiled set of definitions and rules for playing JUNQUE within BogeyBoys. This is not part of the normal BogeyBoys’ game each week, and is played within a foursome with the concurrence of all players.

  • Polies – a player makes a putt longer than the flagpole on the first putting attempt. All players are eligible on each hole
  • Greenies – a player’s first shot is on the green and closest to the hole on a par three and makes par. Only one player is awarded a Greenie on each par 3
  • Sandy – a player makes par on a hole after hitting out of a sand trap. All players are eligible on each hole
  • RoadRunner – player makes par after hitting from the desert. All players are eligible on each hole
  • Roofie – player makes par after hitting a ball OB which bounces off a neighboring roof and makes par. All players are eligible on each hole
  • BluePlate – a player is on the green in regulation for a par 5 and closest to the hole and makes par. Only one player is awarded a BluePlate on each par 5.
  • Royal Navy – a player makes par after hitting into a water hazard, skimming the water is considered same as hitting into the water. All players are eligible on each hole
  • Barkies – a player hits a tree or branch or leaves (notable noise)and makes par. All players are eligible on each hole.
  • F…Miracle (FM) – a player holes out from off the green regardless of which stroke it is for him. It not necessary to have made par. All players are eligible on each hole
  • Birdies – a player receives a “dot” for a Birdie. All players are eligible on each hole
  • Eagle – a player receives two “dots” for an Eagle. All players are eligible on each hole
  • Skin – Lowest net score on each hole. If a tie, no “dot” is awarded
  • Raw Scores (not net scores) are used for all “dots” except Skins.
  • Multiple Barkies, Sandies, Royal Navies, RoadRunners may be awarded a player on a given hole.

A player may receive more than one dot per hole; ex> a player is closest to the hole on a par three but further away from the hole than the length of the flag-stick. He makes the putt for a Polie; he gets the Greenie; he gets a “dot” for the Birdie; and wins the Skinfor a (4) dotter.

At the end of the round the “dots” are added for each player. A “dot” is worth 50¢. Each player must pay the other players the difference in their “dot” totals times 50¢. If the payee owes another player $2.50 based on a 5-dot difference the payee only pays $2.00 (rounding goes to the payee).

Another game that is played is DOCs – Partners are assigned for each six (6) holes based on carts; Drivers- holes 1-6, Opposites- holes 7-12, Carts- holes 13-18. Partners play match play against each other for low net and each 6-hole round is payable at $2.00. If one team of partners is down two or more holes they may “PRESS” the bet prior to teeing off on the next hole. The “PRESS” must be accepted by the other team. This starts a new bet for the remaining 6-hole match.
