- J: Read Instructions For Judges
J: Write introduction to trial (Before Evidence is Presented section)
L: Write Opening Statement
W: Write Direct Exam Questions for yourself
Thursday, May 5 & Friday, May 6
In Class Activities:
- Current Event
- Discuss Cross Examination Questions
- Discuss Closing Statements
- L & W: Practice direct examination questioning. Work with group to prepare questions and closing statements.
- J: Prepare “Steps in a Trial” Lesson
J: Finish “Steps in a Trial” Lesson
W: Practice answering your direct examination questions. Try to work on preparing for cross examination questions as well.
L: Finish closing statements. Practice both closing statements and opening statements.
L & W: Work on writing cross examination questions.
Monday, May 9 & Tuesday, May 10

- Judge’s Presentation on “Steps in a Trial”
- Discuss & Practice Objections
- L & W: Finish all questions-practice them.
- L & W: Practice all Opening & Closing Statements.
- J: Write Jury Directions.
- May begin 12 Angry Men.
L & W: Finish all questions-PRACTICE THEM.
L & W: Practice all Opening & Closing Statements.
J: Write Jury Directions (After Evidence is Presented section).
Everyone: Review and practice objections.
Wednesday, May 11 & Thursday, May 12
In Class Activities:
- Current Event (x2)
- Discuss attitude, dress, vocabulary, etc. for a courtroom setting.
- Explain Jury Procedure.
- PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE
- Review any additional questions regarding the trial.
- May finish 12 Angry Men
Be prepared for EVERYTHING.
