Note: All research advisors are expected to fund MS student stipends at least during the summer with the expectation that two summers of funding will be necessary for such students to complete their degree requirements. Ph.D. student stipends must be funded by the research advisor’s funds beginning the summer between the first and second year at which point the advisor will assume full responsibility for year round funding starting no later than directly after the student’s fourth semester in the program. As of fall 2011, the monthly stipend rate is $1,833 per month plus 6.1% for fringe benefits ($5,940 for a summer; $23,760 for a year round stipend).
Available funding (to be completed by the advisor): Please describe the source and duration of the funding available to support the stipend and research costs of this student throughout their tenure in the graduate program. The bridge funding plan (see below) must be completed if the duration of the current grant is shorter than the expected time to degree.

Graduate bridge funding plan: Outline a plan for covering the student’s stipend and research supplies if the research advisor’s grant support lapses. Research advisors with primary appointments in Biological Sciences should state this fact. Research advisors with primary appointments other than Biological Sciences must develop a plan that describes the available funding from the advisor’s department and/or college to bridge this student. This plan must be countersigned by the appropriate Department Chair or Dean. If the research advisor holds a primary appointment at our partner institutions (Christiana Care or Nemours Biomedical Research), this plan must be developed with, and countersigned by, the appropriate institutional official.
