PRODUCT SERVICE EDUCATION GRANT GUIDELINES
Grants are available for all NAAEI designation programs. Competition for these awards is based on financial need and a commitment to earning a Professional designation.
The Houston Apartment Foundation will pay 50 percent of the total cost of the designation program (CAM, CAS, CAMT, CAPS, or NALP), contingent upon the successful completion of all designation criteria; should the candidate fail to complete the designation criteria within the allotted time, all remaining designation fees will be owed to HAF. Additional requirements are as follows:
¨ Individuals must successfully complete in full, a grant application that demonstrates financial need and a commitment to earning a professional designation.
¨ Each candidate must be sponsored by the applicant’s current employer. Sponsorship of a candidate includes the following: an original letter that is detailed and specific in their recommendation for the likelihood of the candidate’s successful completion of all applicable designation criteria (exam, presentation, project, etc) and must include an original signature. Incomplete applications will not be accepted for consideration
¨ Applicants may not have received an education grant for any designation within the last two years.
¨ Applicants must be employed by an HAA member in good standing.
¨ Education grants do not apply to online courses
Qualifications for the certification programs are as follows:
Certified Apartment Manager (CAM):
-Possess at least one year of apartment management experience.
-Complete all nine CAM courses, pass the comprehensive exam
**Students must complete the certification within ONE year of receiving the grant.
Certified Apartment Supplier (CAS):
-Complete four required courses and one elective and successfully pass the comprehensive exam.
**Students must complete the certification within ONE year of receiving the grant.
Certified Apartment Maintenance Technician (CAMT):
-Possess a minimum of one year of apartment maintenance experience.
-Complete all five CAMT courses
** Students must complete the certification within two years of receiving the grant.
Certified Apartment Property Supervisor (CAPS):
-Apartment managers must have the Certified Manager (CAM) designation or at
least four years of management experience and property supervisors must be responsible for supervising multiple properties for at least two years.
-Complete all five CAPS courses and pass the comprehensive exam
** Students must complete the certification within 2 years of receiving the grant.
National Apartment Leasing Professional (NALP):
-Possess at least six months of leasing experience.
-Complete all 7 NALP modules and pass the comprehensive exam
-Complete a written and oral market survey project
** Students must complete the certification within 1 year of receiving the grant.
