Isle of Wight Hockey ClubMen’s Selection Committee Meeting at the Ponda Rosa

Wednesday 17th February 2016 - meeting started at 6.30pm

PresentSimon (Club Captain), Tom (1s Captain) Lewis (1s VC), John (2s representative) Alison (2s Manager) and Harry Kirby (Club Chairman - ex officio)

Barry Lloyd and Richard Christensen had been invited but did not attend

The meeting opened with an update on the men’s membership - everyone playing had either paid in full or were signed up to a DD and they were up to date.

New members: Neil Riley will not be joining the club until next season due to family issues and Tom Gould will be bringing his membership form and occasional sub to the 2s match on Saturday 20th February.

The current league positions were confirmed as: 1s are 3rd and have to top 2 teams to play and the 2s are 4thand also have to top two teams to play.

It was agreed that there could be no juggling of players to secure promotion until after the next two games and position were clearer.

Richard will not be travelling with the men’s 1s on a Saturday for the rest of the season, but will continue to coach on a Wednesday. Alison mentioned that he needed to complete a membership form and do a DBS check to comply with EH and our Ins. T and Cs.

It was also noted that Rio Penn-Grice would be unlikely to be available for the rest of the season, although it was suggested that he may be able to play home games.

Toms squad is - Tom, Carl,Adam, Patrick,James, Jonny, Stuart, Lewis, Steve (Woody), Liam, Colin and Barry and for the 27th Feb neither Patrick nor Adam are available so Barry and Tom G will be needed.

After the 27theveryone should be available. The 2s will use the remaining members.

There was a discussion regarding the use of some of the younger players in the 2s being considered for the 1s in particular when the league positions are confirmed, but it was felt that although there may be a couple who could step up, there was no one in the 2s capable of playing at the 1s level at the moment.

Transport - the 1s have enough cars, but the 2s have a basic 3 and possibly 4 if Kevin plays.

The meeting closed at 7.05pm and it was agreed to consider a further meeting in 3 weeks time.
