1.1 Human Rights
  • Refers to the basic rights that every person is entitled to simple because he or she
is a human being
  • Human Rights are protected by the Bill of Rights in the constitution

  • Examples Human Rights:

 Right to be treated fairly and equally – Equality
 Right to be treated in a dignified manner – Human dignity
 Right to fair treatment in the work place – Labour Relation
 Right to freedom of speech
 Right to vote
 Right to practice your own religion
1.2Inclusivity
  • The fact or policy of not excluding members or participants on the grounds of gender, race, class, sexuality, disability, etc.
  • No discrimination practiced and every one must have an equal chance in the work place

  • Examples of discrimination

 Gender – only men may apply for a job
 Race – only blacks may apply for a job
 Disability – people in wheel chairs may not apply for the job

•Businesses have a responsibility to protect the environment
•Resources of the environment must be used with care and consideration
•Businesses must consider the impact of their actions on the environment

QUESTION 4: BUSINESS ROLES (Human Rights Inclusivity and Environmental Issues)

CAPE PENINSULA UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY (CPUT) BECOMES MORE SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE
CPUT – one of the leading universities in South Africa – is joining the green brigade in a bid to reduce its carbon footprints and become environmentally friendly.
The university has undertaken the following:
•All papers are recycled after it has been used.
•Some of the waste from the hostels is recycled
•Electricity consumption, waste, et cetera are monitored so that the university can be more environmentally friendly.
•New buildings with low electricity consumption are erected.
•Workers from different cultural backgrounds are employed.
•Discrimination is eliminated by protecting the rights of all its employees.

Use the above scenario to describe:
