Van driving

Kaitoke Outdoor Education Centre owns twoToyota Hiacevans which are used as utility vehicles around the site and occasionally used to move our clients in the greater wellington region. The blue vanhas 11 seats and the white van has 6 seats and a cargo space.Experience driving a Manuel vehicle is essential.
Who can drive the Van?
All drivers of the van need to have read and understood this document and been assessed as being competent by senior management

Follow all New Zealand road rules
Fill in logbook
Report any road traffic accidents or dunnage to senior management

Approval from senior management must be sought if going out of the wellington region
Required Equipment
All drivers needs to carry the following equipment
- 1st aid kit
- Cell phone
Pre Driver checks
The van will be checked monthly but a pre driver check needs to be done before any journey this will consist of
- tIRE PRESSSURE (VISUEL CHECK)
- fUEL LEVEL
Petrol
As camp is 13 km from the petrol station we have a policy of refilling the petrol once the tank has a quarter of the tank remaining
The vans run on 91 unleaded petrol and YMCA petrol card the pin code is Blue van 2004, white van ####
Lights
It is recommended that the headlights are on while driving even in daylight to help to been seen.
There is no audio warning that the lights have been left on and the battery runs flat very quickly if the lights are left on.
In the event of accident
Contact help (111) if needed. Then contact the Kaitoke office (04 526 7338)
finishing
Once the journey is finished the van needs to be returned to camp parked in the staff parking area. The van should be free of all rubbish and personal belongings, once the doors are locked return the keys to the office
Report any damage or issues with the van to senior management
