Board of Directors Meeting

December 13, 2016

Call to Order: Lora Harrell, 3:15 pm, quorum met, attached is the sign-in-sheet

Minutes: The minutes were approved as written

Treasurer’s Report: Karie Rinker Teddy Raines, SealedNovemberstatementsis notavailable for opening, reviewing, signing, and dating by a non-signing board member. Forgot to bring statement, Mrs. Church will sign it later. Umpqua Bank balance as of November 30, was$21,958.53,Umpqua CD balance as of October 31stwas $16,239.99

Unbudgeted Funds Request:1request, $81 for school enrichment, money needed to help pay for 5th grade field trip to the Oregon Symphony. Money to be taken from miscellaneous funds, Teddy Raines motioned to approve, seconded, motion approved. Ms. Bravo presented information about the field trip along with her request and was very thankful.

Principals Report: Travis Bond, Burgerville night was awesome with a great turn out. February 14th is the election for the bond proposal, spread the word and go out and vote. Sacajawea would benefit from a list of improvements if the ballot passes. January 29th is the door to door campaign for our boundary from 9-11 am. We are hoping to have district reps at a staff meeting and at the January PTA meeting to explain the bond

Teacher’s Report: Jodi Church, a new style of report card is going home today, not much different but smaller type. Teacher would appreciate any feedback on the new style to help make improvements and to make sure that parents understand the new format. Please sign and return envelopes as usual

Active Committee Reports:

Art to Remember: Julie Hutchins, orders arrived and were distributed to classrooms today, lots of help. Can still order one more time and they will ship for free in mid February, can also order for delivery at your home for a fee. 160 pounds of product was delivered and the school made about $1500. Would like Sacajawea to include the preschool next year in the art to remember program

Book Fair: Karie Rinker, Grandparents day was great, the set up worked much better than last year. We don’t have numbers yet; however did about $1600 in sales just atgrandparent’s breakfast

Clothes and Book Swap: Cristi Wikstrom, event is tonight, set up is happening as we speak, lots of donations have come in. This year we will be putting the clothes in the cafeteria and the books in the hallway, hopefully people will take more

Partnership Event:Tricia Judkins, huge turnout did phenomenal with gift card sales way better than last year but no numbers to report right now.Was hoping to get everything done but snow days interfered and Brandi and/or were very helpful. Next year suggest the time slot be 4-7 instead of 5-8 because people were there at 4:30. Did $400 night of event, same as last year

Giving Tree: Stephanie Seley, Giving tree going well, only one tag left on tree and about 5 tags not turned in yet. Have started delivering books to families already

Movie Night: Vacant, Lora and Brandi reported, have reached out to everyone willing to volunteer for anything, lots of people are willing to help out but no one wants to chair event. Reached out to last year’s chair, she is willing to help but cannot be there the night of the event due to work schedule. Mr. Lee can be there the night of the event but is not willing to chair. Event is cancelled due to no chair

Ongoing Committee Reports:

5th Grade Committee: Cristi Wikstrom, Zuka Haarberg, lunch sales went well, will need extra help next time since so busy. $226 in licorice and smencils sales, Angie is putting together a spreadsheet of which kids and how much they have left on their punch cards so that they know before next sale January 27, Jennifer Vertrees has started working on the t-shirts, Angela Arnett reported Harvest Festival fundraiser #’s: Sold 216 Dilly Bar Stars profit $208 and 165 Sub Zero Ice Cream profit $50, was supposed to be $75 but misunderstanding with vendor so will be sure and get invoice upfront next time

Grants: Jennifer Vertrees, Lora Harrell reported, Jennifer sent an email to 2nd grade so hopefully they are working on the grant for this month

Membership: Wendi Stone, Brandi Dyment reported, currently we have 125 members, 125 bulbs were planted on school grounds at the last weed party. New membership drive will be January 13-Februrary 8th. Lora Harrell would like teachers to reach out to their classroom parents to join PTA and to help out as volunteers. Angela Arnett reported that you have two more days to give a gift of membership and enter WSPTA contest for night at great wolf lodge

Reward Programs: Cristi Wikstrom, Sara Johnston, a new contest started. Flyers should have gone home Friday but no school since snow day will go out next Friday the deadline is February6th. Will be receiving a check soon from box tops for last spring and this fall. Thank you Brianna for updating everyone with totals in the PTA newsletter. Grocery outlet brought in $186.86 for November, $467.11 so far this school year

Spirit Wear:Justine Warunek-Lane, New campaign will be held Jan 13-Feb 8

Volunteer Coordinator: Lora Harrell, we will need volunteers for the nominating committee by February. We also need a spring fundraiser chair by January

Announcements: The water cooler is finally in the workroom because social dues were received. Mrs. Judkins will turn in a check request for half of the expense being paid for by PTA. Two years worth of filters have been purchased
