1.4 SUBMITTALS
1.4.1 Submit under provisions of Section 01 30 00 - Administrative Requirements.
1.4.2 Product Data: Provide product data for manufactured products and assemblies required for this project. Include component sizes, rough-in requirements, service sizes, and finishes. Include product description, model and dimensions:

1.4.2.1 Provide complete literature for all components of packaged systems. These include pump performance, heat exchanger calculations, expansion tank capacity, data for all accessories and valves and complete wiring diagrams specific to the exact unit to be supplied. The wiring diagram shall indicate all required field and factory wiring
1.4.2.1.1 The submittal package shall include the engineered flow schematic.

1.4.2.2 Provide performance curves for all pumps. Plot the specified operating point for each pump on its respective curve.
1.4.2.3 Preparation instructions and recommendations.

1.4.3 Shop Drawing: Submit the following design documentation.
1.4.3.1 Manufacturer shall provide and Contractor shall utilize, as part of the system, a software package that allows the design, document, and manage the temperature cascade in a single pipe distribution system. This software shall produce a flow diagram that sizes all equipment and pipe based on inputted loads and temperature differentials. The software shall document all of these design calculations in a flow schematic. The flow schematic shall show all loads, entering and leaving temperatures, and flow for each terminal unit. In the case of dual temperature systems and heat pumps, it shall document data for both heating and cooling modes.

1.4.4 Certificates: Inspection certificates for pressure vessels from authority having jurisdiction.

1.4.5 Project Record Documents: Record actual locations of flow controls.

1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE
1.5.1 Manufacturer Qualifications: Company specializing in manufacturing the type of products specified in this section, with minimum five years of documented experience.
1.5.2 Installer Qualifications: Minimum 2 years experience installing similar systems.
1.5.3 Product Qualifications:
1.5.3.1 Where items of equipment are required to be provided with compliance to U.L., A.G.A., or other testing and approving agencies, the Contractor may submit a written certification from any nationally recognized testing agency, adequately equipped and competent to perform such services, that the item of equipment has been tested and conforms to the same method of test as the listed agency would conduct.
1.6 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
1.6.1 Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging until ready for installation.
1.6.1.1 Accept valves on site in shipping containers with labeling in place. Inspect for damage.
1.6.1.2 Provide temporary end caps and closures on piping and fittings. Maintain in place until installation.
1.6.1.3 Protect piping components from entry of foreign materials by temporary covers, completing sections of the work, and isolating parts of completed system.
1.6.2 Store and dispose of solvent-based materials, and materials used with solvent-based materials, in accordance with requirements of local authorities having jurisdiction.
1.7 PROJECT CONDITIONS
1.7.1 Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits.

1.8 WARRANTY
1.8.1 The manufacturer shall guarantee system operation for one full heating season and one full cooling season, to the extent that the HVAC system shall deliver the heating and cooling capacities as specified. The value of the guarantee shall be equal to the value of retrofitting the system to a two-pipe system.
2 PRODUCTS
2.1 MANUFACTURERS

2.2 HYDRONIC HEATING AND COOLING
2.2.1 System: The distribution system shall include circulators, twin tees, design suite of software, and system guarantee. The manufacturer shall provide a complete system including circulators, twin tees, primary pumps, system air control, expansion components, heat exchangers, design suite of software and system guarantee. The manufacturer shall have a minimum of 50 single pipe distribution jobs installed within the last five years
2.2.2 Product: LoadMatch Distribution System as engineered by Taco Inc.
2.2.2.1 Component: LoadMatch Design software for temperature cascade.
2.2.2.1.1 Manufacturer shall provide and Contractor shall utilize, as part of the system, a software package that allows the design, document, and manage the temperature cascade in a single pipe distribution system.
2.2.2.2 Component: LoadMatch Circulators:
2.2.2.2.1 The circulator shall be water lubricated, direct drive, requiring no seals, couplers or bearing assembly. Ceramic shaft and carbon bearing construction shall be capable of running without fluid for 10 days without damage to shaft or bearings.
2.2.2.2.2 The circulator shall be repairable in-line without removal of the circulator from the piping using a stainless steel replaceable cartridge. Cartridge shall be provided with a 3 year warranty.
2.2.2.2.3 The circulator shall incorporate a removable integral spring loaded flow check to eliminate fluid circulation when the pump is off.
2.2.2.2.4 The circulator shall incorporate an integral condensate baffle to eliminate condensation on the motor housing when supplying chilled water down to 40 degrees F (4 degrees C). Alternative manufacturing processes that delay the effect of condensation versus preventing it shall not be allowed. Specifically, extra coating on the windings is not an acceptable alternative.
2.2.2.2.5 Circulator shall be rated for 200 psi (1379 kPa) working pressure at 220 degree F (104 degree C) fluid temperature.
2.2.2.2.6 An integral variable speed drive (VSD) shall accept a 0-10 Vdc or 4-20 mA modulating control signal to control the speed of the circulator motor. VSD shall incorporate an exercise sequence to run the pump for 20 seconds if there has been no run signal for 72 hours.
2.2.2.2.7 Circulator shall bear UL label.
2.2.2.3 Component: LoadMatch Thermostats for control of heat pump or fan coil system.
2.2.2.4 Component: LoadMatch Twin Tee Fittings (single-pipe hydronic systems and primary secondary two-pipe hydronic systems).
2.2.2.4.1 Tee fittings for terminal unit tie in to system distribution piping shall be Taco Twin Tee.
2.2.2.4.2 Twin tee fittings shall be made of ductile iron or bronze and shall be rated for 200 psi (1379 kPa).
2.2.2.4.3 The fitting shall be manufactured with two system connections and two terminal unit connections. The system connections shall be offered in three types: sweat, threaded, and grooved. Terminal unit connections shall all be threaded.
2.2.2.4.4 The fitting shall include an internal baffle that prevents short circuiting of the terminal unit fluid from inlet to outlet.
** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** The Taco LOFlo System is the best way to radiant cooling. Typically used in radiant panel (ceiling, wall or floor) and chilled beam (passive and active) applications, the technology significantly reduces pump flows and pipe sizes for reduced energy consumption and lower first costs. The LOFlo System also provides precise control of supply water to the terminal, e.g. chilled beam, and precise control of room temperatures. 2.3 RADIANT HYDRONIC HEATING AND COOLING
2.3.1 System: The distribution system shall include mixing block with circulators, twin tees, design suite of software, and system guarantee. The manufacturer shall provide a complete system including LOFlo Mixing Block with circulators, twin tees, primary pumps, system air control, expansion components, heat exchangers, design suite of software and system guarantee. The manufacturer shall have a minimum of 50 single pipe distribution jobs installed within the last five years
2.3.2 Product: LOFlo Distribution System as engineered by Taco Inc.
2.3.2.1 Component: The LOFLo Mixing Block.
2.3.2.1.1 The Mixing Block shall consist of an injection circulator and a zone circulator with an interconnecting decoupler pipe with connections to the primary and zone circuits. The interconnecting decoupler piping shall be stainless steel with flanged connections for field servicing and removal of the circulators. Circulators and interconnecting decoupler shall be factory assembled as one unit.
2.3.2.1.2 The injection circulator shall be operated variable speed to control the supply water temperature to the terminal unit for the zone.
2.3.2.1.3 The zone circulator shall be operated either constant or variable speed to maintain the space temperature in the zone.
2.3.2.2 Component: LoadMatch Design software for temperature cascade.

2.4 AIR ELIMINATION
2.4.1 Air and dirt removal device shall be constructed of steel. It shall be designed, fabricated and stamped per ASME Section VIII Division 1 with a maximum working pressure of 125 psi (862 kPa) at 270 degree F (132 degree C). Manufacturer shall be holder of ASME U stamp. Manufacturer shall have optional 250 psi (1724 kPa) and 150 psi (1034 kPa) ASME units available.
2.4.1.1 Product: VorTech Air Separators 4900 Series Air Separators as manufactured by Taco, Inc.

2.4.1.1.1 Type: AC (size and capacity as called for on plans).
2.4.1.1.2 Type: ACF (strainer) (size and capacity as called for on plans).
2.4.2 Construction:
2.4.2.1 Units up to three inches (76 mm) in size shall be provided with threaded connections as standard. Units three inches (76 mm) and larger shall be provided with flanged system connections as standard. Inlet and outlet connections shall be in-line with piping system. Both inlet and outlet shall be in the same horizontal and vertical planes.
2.4.2.2 Each air and dirt removal device shall be equipped with a brass conical shaped air venting chamber designed to minimize system fluid from fouling the venting assembly. The air vent shall be able to be closed to allow flushing and purging of dirt via side port without dirt passing through vent on initial system fill.
2.4.2.3 A brass flushing cock shall be located on the side of each separator to facilitate system fast-fill and removal of the floating impurities from the air system interface within the separator.
2.4.2.4 A blow down valve shall be provided by the unit manufacturer on the bottom of each unit to allow blow down and cleaning. On units 2-1/2 inches (64 mm) and smaller the valve and all of its fittings shall be 1 inch (25 mm). On units three 3 inches (76 mm) and larger the valve and all openings shall be 2 inches (51 mm).
2.4.2.5 The air and dirt removal device shall remove air down to 18 microns (0.018 mm) and shall remove dirt/debris down to 35 microns (0.035 mm). The unit shall be 100% efficient at removing dirt down to 90 microns (0.090 mm) in 100 passes or less.
2.4.2.6 The unit manufacturer shall provide the Owner and design engineer third party independent test data certifying that their unit performs to the above standards. Suppliers not providing these independent performance test results will not be acceptable.
