20 independent cry-GAL80 transgenic lines (eleven on chromosome III, eight on chromosome II and one on the X) were tested for their ability to suppress the behavioral defect induced by GAL4-mediated ablation of CRY+ neurons.
* Transgenic flies with two copies of cry-GAL80 insert were generated by standard recombination techniques. Three of the recombinant double insert lines (8d3f1, 2e3m and 3c3m) fully rescued the cry-GAL4; UAS-hid defect. The 2e3m line was used for the experiments described in the main body of the paper.
