Report of the Chair of the SCR Executive Committee 2012-2013
1. Overall View
Through out 2012/2013, the SCR continues to provide the members with high quality services.
This period has been intensive in terms of emerging developments. These created emerging need for SCR to establish services at the new campus in order to provide for members located there. Over the year, the SCR committed resources and pursued venues for achieving this goal. This includes work with external consultants, contractors and HKU Estates. We have now finalized all the particulars, and the construction work on the new facility called “SCR Bridge” will begin by the end of November. It is expected that the SCR Bridge will be operational by April 2014. The project has been facilitated by appointment of the SCR Manager.
The SCR finances remain positive. However in light of increasing inflation, raising cost of food and beverages, increasing staff salaries, increasing maintenance costs and proposed expansion, it is projected that slight increases in pricing will take place to ensure sustainability.
In particular, it is expected that the SCR Bridge will bring important innovation and new services to the members. In addition, SCR is set to increase its social activities for benefits of members. The billiard room will be converted into the activity room and used to host activities.
We hope to secure further funding from the University and upgrade the existing kitchen facilities at the SCR.
The SCR is commitment to sustain and improve quality of services in the future.
2. Events
