Hi my name is Michelle Hampton; I have put this together to give a brief introduction to myself and what I can offer you and your child.

I have a 5 year old son, a 2 year old son and 12 year old step daughter at home and two step daughter’s aged 16, 13, 2 dogs, 3cats, 1 snake, 1 tarantula and I am happily married. From 2001-2011 I worked as a Prison Officer working with children aged 15-18 years old. I consider myself to have extensive knowledge on Safeguarding Children and Chid Protection procedures and I have also had both personal and professional experience and training in mental health illness and how to care for those who suffer from mental health problems.

My aim is to provide a home from home environment for the children in my care while helping them in their key areas of development. I will do this through constructive and free play, planned activities; indoors/outdoors, creative, cooking, reading, music, dvd/tv/films, trips to the zoo, farm, museums, library and soft play areas and also involving them in the normal household activities such as shopping and cleaning up. I will encourage all children to build relationships with the other children in my care and to make their own choices where appropriate.

I have a wide range of toys suitable for both girls and boys and have swings in the garden for them to enjoy.

I will provide breakfast, snacks, lunch, evening meal and drinks to all children, I will record what your child eats/drinks and tell you when you come to pick your child up along with what we have done in the day. This will also be recorded in your child’s daily record and used as part of their development record. I will also take photos of key moments for the purpose of recording development as per EYFS guidelines and requirements. (

I intend to incorporate the following activities into my weekly routine.

  • Children’s Centre activities
  • Rhyme time/Story time at Berinsfield Library
  • Local Park
  • Cooking, helping to prepare lunch/tea
  • Arts and Crafts
  • Reading, listening to music, watching educational children’s tv/film
  • Childminder playdate

During the school holidays I will endeavour to take the children on trips to the zoo, local farms and museums.

I have in place Policies and Risk Assessments and these will be provided to you in an information pack.

To help ease your child into coming to my home and my care I will arrange with you a settling in session; this can be tailored to suit you and your child as it is just as unsettling for you as parents as it could be for your child. This session will be free of charge.

I am happy to incorporate your child’s daily routine where possible to help the transition from home to my care and back to home. It would be useful if you could provide me with information about the things your child likes to do or play with, favourite foods, television programmes and anything else you feel maybe useful to enable me to care for your child.

I am happy for your child to bring their favourite toys along with them however they must be clearly labelled with your child’s name and I will encourage them to share these with the other children (age appropriate).

I look forward to caring for your child

Michelle Hampton
