A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
TO HONOR AND RECOGNIZE ALLEN BROWNLEE FOR HIS OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS IN HIS CAREER AND TO HIS COMMUNITY, AND TO WISH HIM ALL THE BEST UPON HIS RETIREMENT FROM EDISTO ELECTRIC COOP.
Whereas, it is with great pride that the South Carolina General Assembly commends those citizens who have given tirelessly of their time and talents in benefiting the lives of others; and
Whereas, Mr. Allen Brownlee is a fine example of such a person, and his life stands as a true testament of all the good that a single individual can do within a community, both personally and professionally; and
Whereas, a devoted family man, Mr. Brownlee celebrates a fortytwoyear marriage to Ella Mae Matthews and enjoys his two sons, James Matthew Brownlee and Kevin Dwayne Brownlee and their wives. His life is further blessed by five adoring grandchildren; and
Whereas, Mr. Brownlee shows his extraordinary commitment to his community by his participation in numerous civic organizations, serving as President of the St. George Jaycees and the Dorchester Academy Booster Club. He is a charter member of the St. George Rotary Club, has been named Rotarian of the Year, and has been the chairman of the St. George Rotary Golf Tournament for the last three years; and
Whereas, sharing his faith and helping his church grow, Mr. Brownlee served as a deacon of Memorial Baptist Church; and
Whereas, an avid baseball fan, Mr. Brownlee has given countless hours of his time in coaching all levels of youth baseball and was an assistant baseball coach at Dorchester Academy. He also fulfilled a personal dream in 1989 by reorganizing American Legion Post 105’s baseball team; and
Whereas, at the age of sixtytwo, Mr. Brownlee is still coaching pony league baseball and helping as many young people as he can, both on the field and off the field; and
Whereas, Mr. Brownlee is sure to continue making a difference in the lives of those with whom he comes into contact long after his retirement from his fortyyear career with Edisto Electric Coop. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, honor and recognize Allen Brownlee for his outstanding contributions in his career and to his community and wish him all the best upon his retirement from Edisto Electric Coop.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Allen Brownlee.
