Youth Ministry Coordinator Job Description

Missouri Mid-South

(Also Assists in the Kansas-Oklahoma Conference)

Job Summary:

The Youth Ministry Coordinator for the Missouri Mid-South (MMS) will minister to the MMS youth and will also support common initiatives in Kansas-Oklahoma (KO) for a period of 18 months.

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate and oversee all MMS/KO Conference Youth Events in association/cluster areas as well conference-wide.
  • Cultivate support, affirmation, and networking for traditionally marginalized youth.
  • Provide resources for Local Church Youth Leaders in written, web-base, and webinar formats for youth leaders.
  • Create and oversee a Youth Council that is collaborative for MMS; including KO Conference youth leaders as appropriate.
  • Coordinate and oversee 2018-2019 wider UCC youth events including the West Central Region Youth Event in 2018 and the National Youth Event in 2019.
  • Serve as the youth ministry liaison to the Youth Covenanted Ministry team, MMS staff, and MMS leadership on all matters pertaining to youth ministry and assisting in KO as needed.
  • Provide social media and communications support for MMS and KO Conferences youth ministries.
  • Develop and maintain a database of all youth leaders and active youth in the MMS conference.
  • Attend monthly MMS all-staff meetings to communicate events and needs.
  • Report to the MMS Conference Minister.

Benefits

  • Hours and Compensation
  • This position will be full-time (40 hours a week)
  • Compensation: $119,722 for 18 months (includes benefits and insurance).
  • Will be paid on the 15th and 29th of every month.
  • The candidate will live in the middle of the MMS conference such as Columbia or Jefferson City.
  • Vacation and Continuing Education Time Off
  • The candidate will receive two (2) weeks of vacation and one (1) week of continuing education time off.

  • A background check will be made as detailed in the Personnel Policies Handbook.
  • An evaluation will be conducted by the MMS Conference Minister, at least annually.
  • The processes of resignation and termination are outlined in the Personnel PoliciesHandbook.
  • Qualifications
  • The candidate must have seminary training and be an authorized minister in the United Church of Christ, with previous youth ministry experience.
