2017 V-8 Demolition Derby Rules
The rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of racing events and to establish minimum acceptable requirements for such events. These rules shall govern all CCRA events. No expressed or implied warranty of safety shall result from publications of, or compliance with these rules and/or regulations. They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to participants, spectators, or others.
General/Safety
1. All rules must be followed or car/driver will not be allowed to participate.
2. If vehicle does not pass inspection or driver is not willing to change vehicle to pass tech, then they will not be allowed to participate in competition, with no refund of the entry fee. All cars are subject to re-inspection after competition and before official results are posted.
3. All drivers must be a minimum age of sixteen (16). Any driver under the age of eighteen (18) must have a properly executed parental consent form signed and notarized for admission to event.
4. Helmets are required, approved SHCA or Snell 90; helmets must be worn any time car is on the track.
5. Clothing of a flame retardant nature should be worn by all competitors. Fire suits are strongly recommended. All drivers must provide coverage from ankle to wrist.
6. Seatbelts are required - two shoulder belts, two lap belts and anti-submarine belt (five point harness). Must be securely fastened to car.
7. All competitors will be on a timer, NO SANDBAGGING. You must keep making contact with other competitors, Officials/Judges will determine whether cars are moving and hitting to stay in competition. Restart time of one (1) minute will be allowed, if cars do not restart in issued amount of time competitors will be considered finished.
8. NO DRIVER DOOR HITS, sometimes it may happen, but if determined careless and/or intentional, competitor will be disqualified.
9. Any questions, call first, if it does not say you can do it, don’t do it!
10. All decision by officials/judges is final.
All cars must be removed from the premises at the end of the event. Any vehicle left at the track without permission, will result in a fine that will be posted to the driver and/or the registered owner.
Safety is the most important part. All cars will be heavily inspected.

Car Type
Any compact 4 cylinder make or model passenger car allowed. No pickups, mid size/large sedans or mid size/large station wagons (Taurus, K cars, etc.). 2 or 4 door. Foreign or domestic. Front and rear wheel drive, no all wheel or 4x4 vehicles. If you think your car is questionable call before starting. If you have questions contact Sam Brittain at 503-366-5830 or email at .
Car Preparation
1. Full front windshield or screen mandatory. Either must have at least one 1” strap from top to bottom mounted in center. Screen must be heavy-duty 3/8” or ½” steel mesh. All other glass, including headlights, taillights, ect. must be removed
2. All flammable materials inside of car must be removed. Driver’s seat and padding not included. Dashboard is optional.
3. Driver’s seat must be securely mounted. All cars should have padding inside of driver’s door for protection.
4. No added weight of any kind, unless otherwise specified.
5. One (1) pipe or bar with maximum 5” diameter, minimum of 3” diameter to be added behind driver’s seat. Steel plate 6”x6” (minimum ¼” thick) to be welded to both ends of pipe and then bolted to the floor and roof with a minimum of 4 bolts. Plate may also be welded to floor for safety. A four (4) post cage is allowed but only if welded to floor board on steel plates. No roll bars allowed through either the front or rear firewall.
6. One (1) grater blade or maximum 4” channel must be attached securely to driver’s door. Must not be further than 6” passed either seam in door. On four door cars bar must cover both front and rear door seams.
7. All doors, trunk lid and hood to be chained shut. No welding of any seams allowed. Trunk lid and hood must be able to be opened for inspection. Hood must have one (1) 6”x6” hole cut on either side of motor for safety and fire reasons.
8. Window net required on drivers’ side, mounted securely with quick release on top.
Numbers
Must be on roof and both doors of car. Must be 18” high. Dark on light or light on dark.
Bumpers
To remain stock. No reinforcing, no welding of any kind!
Radiator
Radiator to be in stock location. No reinforcing radiator support of any kind!
Battery
No more than (1) 12 volt battery allowed. May be moved inside on passenger floor board. Must be secured and covered. Additional strap may be required if stock mount is used.
Frames
Stock frame for year and make of vehicle. No cross bracing, filling or reinforcing of frame of any kind!
Gas Tanks
Tanks located over in front of rear axles/suspension are allowed. Marine type gas can or fuel cell may be used for relocation of gas tank. Tanks may be relocated inside behind driver if securely fastened to floorboard and covered. Any gas tanks behind rear axles/suspension must be removed.
Tires
Any D.O.T. passenger tire is allowed. No studs or snow tires. No wheel weights.
Brakes
All four brakes must be working and able to stop vehicle.
