To maximise awareness of the new Child Law Advice Service, Coram Children’s Legal Centre is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, committed and technologically-comfortable intern to research and liaise with printers and designers for new branded marketing materials, and to undertake a variety of other tasks in support of the marketing and communications team

The ideal intern will be highly organised and efficient, possess excellent communication skills, be proactive and computer literate, with a ‘can do’ attitude. Previous experience of marketing and communications or the charity sector is not essential, but a demonstrated interest would be an advantage.

As part of the role, you will be supported to learn how to:

  • Lead on the production of a suite of targeted marketing materials to promote the Child Law Advice Service. Dependent on budget and your research, this could include postcards and flyers, or branded office supplies.
  • Liaise with printers and designers to source product options, determine quotes and see through the project to the delivery of the final product.
  • Familiarise and navigate an online media coverage tracking system.
  • Develop organisational systems and processes to optimise tracking and storing of both electronic and hard copy media coverage.
  • Undertake a variety of other tasks in support of the marketing and communications team.

To promote your educational development, you will be required to prepare a brief reflection assignment, in which you outline skills developed and strengthened, and note how these can be transferred to future employment positions.

Desirable skills

  • Good research and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to learn browser-based communications tools
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Flexible approach and ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure
  • Willingness and ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
  • Understanding of or interest in fundraising and/or the voluntary sector

Supervision and support

Interning as part of the Marketing and Communications team, you will be invited to attend relevant meetings and receive ongoing support from the Marketing and Communications Assistant.

Your transportation costs to the Colchester Office will be covered.

Upon successful completion of the ten days of work you will receive a £500 bursary.
