JOB TITLE: / Night Porter

SALARY: / £7.96 per hour
HOURS OF WORK: / 32 hours per week (4 nights on, 4 nights off)

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE:

To provide security and to be a point of contact for guests during the night. To ensure the cleanliness and presentation of all public areas. To assist with the bar and all other guest requests.

MAIN DUTIES:

  • To carry out security checks to maintain the security of the premises and its contents.
  • To ensure guest safety and the security of the premises.
  • To ensure immaculate cleanliness and presentation of both front of house, conference/private dining rooms and still areas.
  • Ensure full communication with the porters and FOH staff regarding hotel and guest activity upon commencement and closure of each shift.
  • To deal with and ensure that guest requests are met and exceeded where possible throughout the night.
  • To conduct check in and check out where necessary, and manage internal and external enquiries through the switchboard promptly and efficiently.
  • To undertake 1st aid at work training.

To take responsibility for the evacuation of guests in the event of a fire or other emergency situation.

  • To set up for Breakfast.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To complete all Health & Safety and Job Skills training as required.
  • To work in accordance with company Health & Safety guidelines especially in relation to Hazard and Accident
  • To be responsible for your own health and safety and that of your colleagues, in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) and relevant EC directives.
  • To provide a healthy and comfortable working environment, smoking is prohibited throughout the Hotel.
  • To undertake any training/coaching required by the Company to enable you to perform your duties effectively.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

  • Previous experience in a similar role would be advantageous.
  • Must be enthusiastic and a team player.
  • Must be of smart appearance and have high standards of personal hygiene at all times.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential. Both face to face and over the telephone.
  • Must be customer service focused at all times.
