In groups of six, students will be assigned rolls in the events of a muscle contraction. There are six roles.
Play Title: The motor neuron makes the muscle contract
Setting: neuromuscular junction
Players: Motor neuron (nerve cell)
Sarcolemma (muscle cell membrane)
Muscle
Acetylcholine
Sodium
Potassium
What happens:
  1. Motor neuron releases acetylcholine
  2. Acetylcholine binds to the sarcolemma
  3. Sodium flows into the sarcolemma
  4. Potassium flows out of the sarcolemma
  5. The muscle contracts
