Tennessee PGA Junior League Rules & Guidelines

2015 Season:

Team Confirmation Date – May 1st

Team Schedules Confirmed – May 7th

Deadline for Jersey Size & Player Registration – May 10th

Team Kit Mail Date – May 11th

Regular Season-May 18th to July 19th

Payment Deadline – June 12th

Ages: Boys and Girls ages 7-13 years old

Players cannot reach their 14th birthday prior to August 1, 2015

Parent’s responsibility to provide birth certificates to the Captain

Skill Level: This league is NOT intended for an ENTIRE TEAM of juniors that average a 9-hole score of 42 or better from 2,800 yards.

League:

·  Leagues must have a minimum of 4 teams to be eligible for post season play

·  Teams will be scheduled to play everyone in their league at least once during the

regular season

·  Teams will practice & play once a week

Format:

·  Players will play 9-holes select shot, broken into-3 hole segments

·  4 matches per competition

·  12 flags are at stake in each competition

·  Each match is worth 3 team flags

·  1 flag per 3 holes

·  If team ties a 3 hole match each team is awarded a ½ flag

Substitution:

·  Each player must play a minimum of three holes

·  Captain should indicate which players substitute and what holes

·  Substitution occurs after every 3 holes. No matter what who you start on substitution will occur after the match plays it’s 3 holes. (ex. Match Starts on hole #2 substitution occurs on hole #5)

Rules:

·  Golf course should not exceed 2,800 yards

1.  Par 5’s should not exceed 450 yards

2.  Par 4’s should not exceed 350 yards

3.  Par 3’s should not exceed 150 yards

·  Select Shot

·  Ball may be moved 1 club length

Player shall mark the ball chosen for play and place within once club length of the mark. Ball may not be moved from rough to fairway or out of bunkers or onto the green

·  Maximum amount of strokes is triple bogey

·  Players shall walk the entire match—Even if the player is not playing in the match player must walk. If player is not playing the match their clubs may ride until they are put in the match.

·  Out of bounds-drop were the ball crossed the out of bounds, drop with a one stroke penalty

·  Water Hazards- ball within water hazards cannot be played. Team must take a drop with a one shot penalty. Note: This does not include bunker. Balls may be played from bunkers.

·  Players may concede a putt or even a hole

This is provided to help make that difficult decision for the All-Star team. We know each Chapter is different and will need to adjust according to match their league.

All Star team will consist of 10 players and 2 alternates

Club will get the awarded all-star spots if they play 4 of their matches. Teams or Leagues that do not complete 4 of their matches will forfeit their all-star spots.

8-Team League

·  League Champion gets 2 All Star Spots

·  Runner up gets 2 All Star Spots

·  Remaining 6 teams gets 1 All Star Spot

7-Team League

·  League Champion gets 2 All Star Spots

·  Remaining 6 teams gets 1 All Star Spot

6-Team League

·  Championship Team gets 4 All Star Spots

·  Runner up gets 2 All Star Spots

·  Each of the remaining 4 teams get 1 All Star Spot

5-Team League

·  League Champion gets 4 All Star Spots

·  Runner up gets 3 All Star Spots

·  Remaining 3 teams gets 1 All Star Spot

4-Team League

·  League Champion gets 4 All Star Spots

·  Remaining 3 teams gets 2 All Star Spot

Team cannot have more than 4 players on their All-Star roster

Captain of the All Star team is decided by league Champion. Team that wins the league, that captain will become the All Star Captain. Captain may decide on Assistant Captain.

All Star Criteria:

·  Player makes every match

·  Player makes every practice

·  Player with the highest number of flags

·  Player shows great sportsmanship

·  Player must be able to commit to playing State, Regional and Nationals

Team may surrender an All Star spot by emailing the league commissioner.

Parents/Volunteers:

Encouraged to participate and help the team in many ways.

1.  Scorekeeper

2.  Team Parent-arrange for snacks and drinks post play

3.  Help with team practices

4.  Ball spot during matches

5.  Rake bunkers or fix divots during matches

They are very valuable to the team and the success.

Parents are NOT allowed:

1.  Not permitted to coach or give advice during a match

2.  Not allowed on the Greens

3.  Give rulings

Parents who breach any of these rules may be removed from a match, or banned from all matches.
