DRIVE INS WORKSHOP

MAPPA has become aware of informal activities in Illinois, Iowa and Michigan that offer education to the hosting institution and regional guests ‘outside’ the formal Drive-In workshops. The MAPPA Board has encouraged host institutions to keep us advised for measurement and general awareness.

ACADEMY ON CAMPUS

REGIONAL MEETING

MAPPA 2016 conference registration is underway. 30 presentations are scheduled. Every session that features a business partner or service provider has a co-presenter from a higher education institution.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Scholarship recruitment has stepped up, especially at events. Specific to credentialing, 33 credentialing scholarships were awarded at the 2015 annual meeting. At the same time, Michigan APPA (MiAPPA) committed 25 more.

Subsequent purchase activity since that time: MAPPA- 39 CEFP and 27 EFP scholarships purchased. MiAPPA- 30 and 20, respectively.

MAPPA continues to review its Scholarship process and policy. The process was improved earlier this calendar year by streamlining the application/review process to a responsibility of the Past President. Prior to this, the entire Board voted. MAPPA is looking now at its policy of one scholarship per institution, with an interest to potentially increase the threshold.

Since its Annual Meeting in 2015, MAPPA received 13 applications for APPA Institute, 5 for Leadership Academy, and 1 EFP. From this batch, 2 were denied (one Institute and one Leadership) because of the one-scholarship per institution rule currently in place.

OTHER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT NEWS

Big Ten Trainers and Friends will meet for one day prior to MAPPA’s Annual meeting. Standard participation draws from MAPPA’s Professional Development Committee and is growing through the direct outreach and recruitment efforts of many MAPPA Board members. In 2016, Penn State University is the professional development planner for Big Ten Trainers & Friends. Penn State participates in ERAPPA; however, their trainers continue to network and engage with Big Ten as “friends”.

The MAPPA Board will meet on July 15. After this meeting, metrics associated with goals will be updated to this document.
