JOB PURPOSE
As an Executive Director and member of the Trust Board contribute fully to the setting of the Trust’s strategic direction and achievement of the organisation’s objectives.
To lead on the Trust’s operational management agenda.

-£430 million revenue income
-8,300 paid staff in the Trust
-nearly 600,000 catchment population for general services
-catchment of 1.1M for cancer services
-85,000 elective in-patients/day cases per year
-60,000 emergency admissions per year
-700,000 out-patients per year
- 119,000 A&E attendances per year

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Essential / Desirable
Education / Degree or equivalent.
Evidence of continuing professional development. / MBA or other relevant postgraduate qualifications.
Knowledge and Experience / Detailed knowledge and understanding of financial, management and clinical issues associated with a large Acute Trust.
Experience of leading significant organisational change.
Knowledge and understanding of NHS performance targets, the safety agenda, financial procedures and statutory regulations.
In depth understanding of the NHS system and partner healthcare organisations.
Evidence of significant achievements. / Regional or national profile and an acknowledged leader in his or her own field.
Board experience in an Acute Trust.
Experience of working in a Foundation Trust
Knowledge of Monitor’s Compliance Framework

KEY “TASKS” (KEY RESULT AREAS)
-To act at Executive Director level in the general management of GHFT through membership of the Trust Board and Trust Management Team in a way which delivers the provision of affordable, high quality health care.
-To oversee the day-to-day operational management of the Trust to ensure effective care of patients.
-To provide leadership and direction for the Chiefs of Service ensuring that they are supported, developed and held to account which ensures their Divisions’, and therefore the Trust’s objectives are achieved.
-To be the Executive lead on the delivery of national access targets
-To be the Executive lead on major projects affecting the future success of GHFT as delegated by the Chief Executive.
-To act as an ambassador for the Trust both internally and externally ensuring proper representation and, where appropriate, partnership working with staff, PCT, media etc
