ASGA Mingle
Romano’s Macaroni Grill
3/17/15
Meeting was called to order by Roger Schroeder. 17 members and 3 guests attended the meeting. Split the Pot for $38 was won by Marsha Barnholtz. A second drawing was held for a free lesson with Kelly Fegley (the guest speaker) and that was won by Tim Maybury. Since Tim didn’t want the lesson, he traded with Marsha.
Diane Kerley has set up about 16 outings for this year so far andare ready for sign-up. Blue Ash is already filled. A waitlist has been created. The mystery golf outing in the teaser email will be Triple Crown in Union, KY on April 25th. A sign-up sheet was routed to the attendees. Marsha will automatically mark them as attending. Then she will put the announcement on Meetup. The season opener will have other pricing options than what is on the website. Diane is working on other pricing packages and will post once she has them finalized.
Marsha Barnholtz reported on several upcoming social activities. Harness Racing is set up for Sat, March 21st. She is looking into the Roller Derby in April and Pat Dixon will look into another bowling outing in April. We decided not to have any more mingles until the fall.
Carol will be tracking guests who golf to make sure they are limited to their 2 outings. If someone notices a guest signed up that has played prior to this year, please let Carol know.
Our Guest Speaker was Kelly Fegley from Golf Galaxy. He talked about different styles of putters and grips. Putting is 40% of the game and is the easiest part to improve. Grip size on the putter is important. If you are not a good putter, check the size of your grip. Your fingers should just go around the grip. Putting is a stroke done with the arms, not the hands.
There are different styles of putting strokes. If you putt straight back and straight through, then you should have a faced balanced putter. Most people putt inside out and the putter should have some drop, creating a draw to the ball.
How you grip the putter is not that important. You need the right length, right style and right grip size.
